Which Box Your JL Audio Driver Calls For
JL Audio ladders its subwoofers and the enclosure should follow. A W3 and a W7 want different net volumes, and a TW3 wants a different cabinet entirely because of its mounting depth. We build a different series against each.
W0, W1 and W3: Performance Series
The workhorse end of the JL range. Performance Series enclosures cover the 10 inch at $219.99 and the 12 inch at $249.99, cut to the net volume those drivers were designed around rather than a generic box that happens to fit the cutout.
W7 and W7AE: Professional Series
The W7 is JL's flagship and gets the Professional Series treatment: the 10w7 at $399.99, the 12w7 at $479.99, and the 13w7 in a ported build at $599.99. These are the boxes to pair with a driver at that price point, where a mismatched cabinet costs you the performance you paid for.
TW3: Micro Series
The TW3 is JL's shallow mount line, so it needs a shallow cabinet rather than a scaled down standard one. Micro Series boxes cover the 10TW3 at $249.99 and the 12TW3 at $269.99, built with stack fab construction so the walls stay rigid at a reduced external footprint. We stock the 10TW3-D4 and 12TW3-D4 drivers if you need both halves.
Shallow Mount and Depth Limits
Mounting depth is the constraint that decides most JL builds, particularly in trucks and under seats. The TW3 exists precisely because a standard W series driver will not physically fit in those spaces, and dropping a shallow driver into a full size box wastes the advantage you paid for.
If you are working to a depth limit, measure the space before choosing the driver rather than after. A Micro Series box plus a TW3 will fit places a W3 and a standard cabinet will not. If you have the room, the W series in a matched box will generally give you more for the money.
Loaded Option
One build in this range ships loaded: a Micro Series 10 inch with the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 already mounted and wired, at $699.99. That covers the gasket seal and coil wiring at our bench rather than in your driveway. Everything else here ships as a box only, prewired to the terminal cup and ready for the driver you supply. If you want a loaded build in a configuration we do not list, we can assemble one.
How These Are Built
Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF, CNC cut on ShopSabre routers in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Internally braced, prewired to a Proline X ABS and carbon fiber terminal cup with stainless steel hardware. Sealed variants ship with polyfill installed.
Warranty follows the series. Professional Series and Micro Series enclosures, which covers the W7 and TW3 boxes, carry a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials. Performance Series enclosures, which covers the W0, W1 and W3 boxes, carry 1 year.

No. The W7 and W3 have different compliance and resonance and call for different net volumes. The W7 in particular is unusually specific about the cabinet it wants, which is why it gets its own Professional Series build rather than sharing a box with the rest of the range.
What is the difference between the TW3 and the W series?
The TW3 is JL's shallow mount line, designed for installs where mounting depth is limited such as behind or under a seat. The W series is standard depth. They are not interchangeable in the same enclosure, because the shallow driver needs a shallow cabinet to be worth choosing in the first place.
Do you sell JL Audio subwoofers as well as the boxes?
We stock the 10TW3-D4 and 12TW3-D4 shallow mount drivers. For W series drivers we build the enclosure and you source the sub, or contact us and we will point you in the right direction.
Do you build for the 13W7?
Yes. The 13w7 gets a ported Professional Series enclosure at $599.99. It is the largest driver in the W7 line and the ported alignment suits it where the space allows.
Should I buy the box loaded or empty?
Empty if you already own the driver, which covers most of this range. One loaded build is listed, a Micro Series 10 inch with the 10TW3-D4 mounted and wired. If you want another configuration loaded, we can assemble it before it ships.
Do I need an amplifier?
Yes. These are passive enclosures with no amplification built in. For a single subwoofer a monoblock matched to the driver's final impedance is the standard approach. Keeping the factory head unit also means adding a line output converter or a DSP with speaker level inputs.
What is the warranty?
It depends on the series. The W7 boxes are Professional Series and the TW3 boxes are Micro Series, and both carry a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials. The W0, W1 and W3 boxes are Performance Series and carry 1 year. The JL Audio driver itself carries its own manufacturer warranty separately.
