Sony builds the Mobile ES line for people who care what a system measures, not just what it moves. The enclosures here are cut for both Mobile ES subwoofers: sealed cabinets for the ten inch XS-W104ES and ported cabinets for the twelve inch XS-W124ES, in wedge, down-fire and standard shapes.

We stock the XS-W104ES, so the ten inch pair can come from one place, and the standard sealed ten can be ordered with the driver already fitted.

Sony Mobile ES enclosures in 10 and 12 inch: sealed for the XS-W104ES, ported for the XS-W124ES, single and dual.

Cut, assembled and finished in Tullahoma, Tennessee, to the parameters Sony publishes for each driver.

XS-W104ES: sealed
The ten inch Mobile ES is cut sealed: a standard front-firing cabinet at 1.0 cubic foot, plus sealed wedges and sealed down-fires in single and dual. Every sealed cabinet ships with polyfill installed.

XS-W124ES: ported
The twelve inch goes ported, in a Performance Optimized wedge and down-fire and in Professional Series cabinets, single and dual, tuned between 35 and 37.5 Hz.

Every Sony Mobile ES Model We Build For

2 Sony Mobile ES models, each with its own cabinets. Ported tunings are the frequency each box is tuned to.

10 inch

XS-W104ES: sealed wide wedge in triple and quad; sealed wide down-fire in single and dual; sealed wedge in single and dual; sealed standard in single; sealed down-fire in single and dual.

12 inch

XS-W124ES: ported wedge in single at 35 Hz; ported standard in single and dual at 35 to 37.5 Hz; ported down-fire in single at 35 Hz.

How to Choose

Start from the driver
The XS-W104ES and XS-W124ES want different cabinets. Each listing names the driver it was cut for, so pick from that side first.

For the ten, pick the shape
All the ten inch cabinets are sealed, so the choice is where it goes: standard in a trunk, wedge against a seat back, down-fire on a cargo floor. The sealed airspace guide explains why each is cut to its own figure.

For the twelve, read the tuning
The ported twelves are tuned between 35 and 37.5 Hz. The Professional Series versions are the largest cabinets on this page, so measure before you choose one.

Box only or loaded
The standard sealed ten can ship with the XS-W104ES fitted. Everything else ships as a bare cabinet. Other brands are on the subwoofer box hub.

Choosing the Shape

Wedge: against a seat back
The rear panel is tapered to sit flush against a raked seat back or a truck cab wall, recovering airspace a square box would waste. Offered sealed for the ten and ported for the twelve.

Down-fire: on a flat floor
The cone faces the floor, with the gap set by the cabinet's feet. It suits an SUV or hatch cargo floor where height is short. Offered sealed for the ten, single and dual, and ported for the twelve.

Standard front-firing: an open trunk
A conventional rectangle: the sealed ten at 1.0 cubic foot, and the Professional Series ported twelves, which need the most room.

We stock the Sony XS-W104ES and cut the cabinets for it. Most of our brand pages are enclosures for drivers you source elsewhere; for the ten inch Mobile ES the pair can come from us, and the standard sealed ten can arrive with the driver fitted.

Sealed Ships Filled, Ported Ships Dry

Every sealed Sony cabinet ships with polyfill installed. The ported XS-W124ES cabinets ship without it, so the tuning stated on the listing is the tuning you get.

We stock the Sony XS-W104ES as well as the cabinets cut for it, which is unusual among our brand pages. The standard sealed ten can be ordered box only, or with the XS-W104ES fitted and wired so it is ready for amplifier leads.

Which Sony subwoofers do these boxes fit?

The two Mobile ES subwoofers: the ten inch XS-W104ES and the twelve inch XS-W124ES. Each product page names the driver its cabinet was cut for.

Do you sell the Sony driver as well?

We stock the XS-W104ES ten inch, and the standard sealed ten can be ordered with it fitted. We do not stock the XS-W124ES, so for the twelve inch cabinets you source the driver.

Why is the ten sealed and the twelve ported?

Those are the alignments we cut each driver for from Sony's published parameters. The ten goes in a compact sealed cabinet; the twelve is offered ported, tuned between 35 and 37.5 Hz, for more output around tuning from a larger box.

What is the difference between Performance Optimized and Professional Series?

Performance Optimized cabinets cover the sealed tens and the ported wedge and down-fire twelves, and carry a 1-year limited warranty. Professional Series cabinets are the heavier ported twelves, single and dual, with more baffle and internal bracing, and carry a 2-year limited warranty.

Does the sealed box ship with polyfill?

Yes. Every sealed cabinet ships with polyfill installed. The ported cabinets ship without it, because fill inside a ported box shifts its tuning.

Can you cut a different configuration for a Mobile ES driver?

Usually. Everything is CNC-cut to order in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Send us the driver, the alignment and your maximum external dimensions through contact and we will tell you whether we can build it.
