Technical Specifications & Advanced Topics

RMS (Root Mean Square) represents continuous power handling - the amount of power a speaker can handle continuously without damage. This is the most important specification for matching amplifiers to speakers safely.

Common impedances are 2Ω, 4Ω, and 8Ω. Lower impedance (2Ω) draws more current and produces more power but requires amplifiers designed for low-impedance loads. Always match amplifier and speaker impedance ratings.

Sensitivity (measured in dB) indicates how loud a speaker plays with 1 watt of power. Higher sensitivity speakers (90+ dB) require less amplifier power to achieve the same volume as lower sensitivity speakers (85 dB or less).

Crossover frequency determines where different speakers take over. For example, setting your subwoofer crossover at 80Hz means it handles frequencies below 80Hz while main speakers handle above 80Hz, creating seamless integration.
