Sony XS-W104ES 10" Mobile ES Subwoofer
The XS-W104ES was Sony's return to serious car audio. When they relaunched the Mobile ES line, they built it around this 10" sub, and it's a genuinely well-engineered driver. We grabbed the last of the inventory at closeout pricing because the line is being phased out, not because anything is wrong with the product.
If you want a clean-sounding 10" that takes real power, this is one of the better deals on the market right now.
What's actually going on here
The cone is Sony's Lightweight Rigid Cellular honeycomb (the material formerly marketed as MRC). It's stiffer than a typical paper or polypropylene cone, which keeps the cone moving as a piston instead of flexing under load. Less cone breakup means cleaner output, especially as you push it.
The Separated Notch Edge surround is the other half of the story. Those staggered notches cut around the surround help it compress symmetrically on the up-stroke and down-stroke, which keeps distortion down at higher excursion.
The basket is a five-spoke stamped frame with a plastic shroud over the spokes and motor. Underneath, the Dynamic Air Diffuser vents heat off the voice coil through the spider, and the lead wires are sewn into the spider so they don't slap around at high excursion. Gold-plated spring terminals take up to 10ga.

Real-world, you can feed it 400-500W clean RMS all day.
It works in either sealed or ported. Sealed is the easy answer if you want tight, accurate bass with a small footprint, somewhere around 1.0 cu ft net. Ported in roughly 1.4 cu ft tuned around 32-35 Hz gets you more output down low if you've got the room. If you want a Proline X enclosure built for it, contact us and we'll spec one out.
Who this is for
Anybody building an SQ-leaning system on a budget who wants a single 10 that doesn't sound like a budget 10. The XS-W104ES isn't a basshead driver. It's a clean, accurate sub that plays loud enough to keep up in a daily, and the closeout price puts it in territory where it's hard to find anything comparable.
