Why a Box Built for the JL Audio W7

Cut to the driver, not to the size

JL prints the cutout, mounting depth and bolt circle for each W7AE size, and each listing gives the figures its baffle is cut to.

Performance Optimized
Sealed and ported cabinets solved from the JL Audio W7's own parameters. The dual cabinets split the air with a full-height divider, so each driver gets its own chamber.

Professional Series
Front-firing ported cabinets with a slot port, tuned for the JL Audio W7. The duals share one chamber and one port, so run a matched pair.

How to Choose

Size first
Pick the cabinet for the JL Audio W7 size you own; each listing is cut for one size only.

Sealed or ported
Sealed is the smaller box and holds its output below tuning. Ported gives more output around its tuning from a larger cabinet, and every ported listing states its tuning.

Wiring
The 8, 10 and 12 inch W7AE are single 3 ohm voice coil drivers, so a pair lands on 1.5 ohms in parallel or 6 ohms in series. The 13.5 inch W7AE is a dual 1.5 ohm driver.

Every JL Audio box
The JL Audio subwoofer box page has every JL Audio cabinet we cut, across all of JL Audio's drivers.

Will It Fit?

Measure the opening
The JL Audio W7 cabinets here run from about 20 to 46 inches wide, and every listing prints its external dimensions. Measure the narrowest point of the space, not the floor.

Behind a seat or against a seat back
The wedges rake the rear panel to sit flush against a seat back or cab wall. See every shape in the wedge collection.

On a cargo floor
The down fires stand on feet with the cone facing the floor, for hatches and SUVs where height is short. See the down-fire collection.

JL Audio W7 Box Questions

Which JL Audio W7 sizes do you build boxes for?

8, 10, 12 and 13.5 inch, in single and dual cabinets. Each listing is cut for one size and names it in the title.

Are the 8, 10 and 12 inch W7AE dual voice coil?

No. JL rates the 8, 10 and 12 inch W7AE as single 3 ohm voice coil drivers. A pair wires to 1.5 ohms in parallel or 6 ohms in series. Only the 13.5 inch W7AE is dual voice coil, at 1.5 ohms per coil.

Sealed or ported for the JL Audio W7?

Sealed is smaller and holds its output below tuning; ported gives more output around its tuning from a larger cabinet. Every ported listing states its tuning and every listing states its net volume.

Do the dual boxes have separate chambers?

The Performance Optimized duals give each driver its own chamber behind a full-height divider. The Professional Series duals share one chamber and one port, so run two of the same model and coil.

Is the JL Audio W7 included?

No. These are enclosures built to fit the JL Audio W7; the driver is sold separately. A listing that ships with the driver fitted says loaded in its title.

How should I wire the JL Audio W7?

The 8, 10 and 12 inch W7AE are single 3 ohm voice coil drivers, so a pair lands on 1.5 ohms in parallel or 6 ohms in series. The 13.5 inch W7AE is a dual 1.5 ohm driver. Pick the pair's final load to suit the amplifier's minimum stable impedance.

What warranty do these boxes carry?

It runs by series: 1 year limited on Performance Optimized, 2 years on Professional and Micro. The series is named in each listing title.
