Shallow Mount, Sealed and Ported

Wavtech builds shallow-mount subwoofers for spaces that will not take a standard driver, and a shallow driver needs a cabinet designed around it rather than a normal box with less depth. Every enclosure here is cut to the parameters Wavtech publishes for the driver it names, most of them sealed, with a ported wedge and a ported down-fire cabinet for the thinPRO12.

Ten and twelve inch, single and dual, in standard, down-fire and wedge forms. Some ship loaded with the driver already fitted, and we stock Wavtech subwoofers and amplifiers separately as well.

Shallow Mount Is the Whole Point

People choose a Wavtech driver because depth is the binding constraint: under a rear seat, in a shallow cargo well, behind a truck seat. The cabinet has to respect the same constraint, which is why Micro Series builds make up a large part of this range.

A shallow driver dropped into a standard-depth cabinet gives up exactly the thing you bought it for. These are cut the other way round: the depth budget comes first, then the net volume the driver needs inside it.

Every Wavtech Model We Build For

2 Wavtech models, each with its own cabinets. Ported tunings are the frequency each box is tuned to.

10 inch

thinPRO10: sealed wide down-fire in single and dual; sealed standard in single and dual; sealed down-fire in single, dual and triple.

12 inch

thinPRO12: sealed wide wedge in triple; sealed wide down-fire in single and dual; sealed standard in single and dual; sealed down-fire in single and dual; ported wedge in single at 34.5 Hz; ported down-fire in single at 34.5 Hz.

How to Choose

Start from the space

Depth is why you are here. Measure it first and the choice narrows quickly.

Pick the series that suits it

Micro Series for the shallowest installs. Performance Optimized for a driver-matched cabinet where you have a little more room. Vehicle Specific if we have already cut one for your truck.

Single or dual

A dual is not two singles joined together. Each chamber is cut tighter than the same driver gets on its own, because the cabinet still has to fit the same space.

Loaded or bare

Some cabinets ship with the Wavtech driver already mounted and wired. We stock the drivers separately too, so either route works.

Depth First, Then Everything Else

Measure the depth you actually have

With trim in place rather than off a drawing. This is the constraint that sent you to a shallow driver in the first place, and it is the one that decides which cabinet works.

Then the total height

A down-fire cabinet needs its feet clearance counted into the overall height, not just the box. Under a fold-flat seat, measure to the seat back at its lowest position rather than its highest.

Then the driver model

Ten or twelve inch, and which Wavtech model. The cabinet is cut to that driver's published figures, so the model number is the match to work from.

Cut From the Depth Inwards

A shallow-mount driver needs a cabinet designed around its depth, not a standard box made thinner. These are cut the other way round: the depth budget comes first, then the net volume the driver needs inside it. That is what Micro Series construction exists to do.

Buy the Box, the Driver, or Both

Some of these cabinets ship with the Wavtech driver already mounted and wired. The rest are cut for a driver you already own. We stock Wavtech subwoofers and amplifiers separately as well, so whichever half you still need is here.

Three Series, Three Shapes

Micro Series covers the shallow-space builds. Performance Optimized covers the driver-matched cabinets on a 1.5 inch double baffle. Vehicle Specific covers the direct-fit boxes cut to a named truck cab.

The sealed cabinets ship with polyfill already installed; the ported thinPRO12 cabinets ship without it and state their tuning on the listing. Standard front-firing, down-fire and wedge are all represented, in single and dual.

Wavtech Subwoofer Box Questions

Which Wavtech subwoofers do these boxes fit?

The cabinets here are cut for Wavtech shallow-mount subwoofers in ten and twelve inch. Each product page names the exact model it was designed around. Match the model number rather than the nominal size.

Do you sell Wavtech subwoofers as well?

Yes. We stock Wavtech subwoofers and their amplifier line alongside these enclosures, so you can buy the driver and the cabinet together or separately. Some cabinets already ship loaded with the matching driver.

Why does a shallow driver need a special cabinet?

Because the depth budget comes first. A shallow driver in a standard-depth box gives up the reason you chose it, and a standard cabinet simply made shallower will not hold the net volume the driver needs. These are designed the other way round, from the available depth inwards.

What is the difference between Micro and Performance Optimized?

Micro Series cabinets are the shallow-space builds, for openings a standard cabinet will not fit. Performance Optimized cabinets are cut to one driver on a 1.5 inch double baffle where there is a little more room to work with. Both are cut to the same published driver figures.

Are these sealed or ported?

Mostly sealed. A sealed alignment suits shallow drivers and fits the spaces they are bought for, and every sealed enclosure ships with polyfill installed. The thinPRO12 also gets a ported wedge and a ported down-fire cabinet for the install that has the room and wants the output, tuned for the driver with the frequency stated on the listing and shipped without polyfill.

Do you make direct-fit Wavtech boxes for trucks?

Yes. Some of these are Vehicle Specific cabinets cut to a named truck cab rather than to a generic opening, and several of those ship loaded with the driver already fitted.
