The RS-W10D4 is Alpine's shallow mount R Series 10, dual voice coil at 4 ohms. The D4 in the model name is the coil configuration, not a size, which catches people out when they are working out final impedance.

Why This Driver Ends Up in Trucks

Two of the three builds here are truck oriented and that is not a coincidence. Shallow mount drivers exist because behind seat and under seat spaces have a depth that the vehicle decides and you do not. The RS-W10D4 fits where a conventional 10 will not, which is the whole reason to choose it.

If you have the depth for a standard driver, a conventional 10 in a conventional box will generally give you more output for the money. Shallow is a solution to a constraint rather than an upgrade.

Micro Series Construction

Stack fabricated: layered CNC cut panels rather than dado joinery, with dowels between layers acting as tension reinforcement. That keeps the walls rigid at a reduced external footprint, which is what a shallow build needs. All four corners are radiused three inches top down, and the area behind the driver magnet is precision milled to recover internal volume and relieve backpressure against the voice coil.

How These Are Built

Langboard Elite MDF, CNC cut on ShopSabre routers in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Stack fabricated, internally reinforced, prewired to a Proline X ABS and carbon fiber terminal cup with stainless steel hardware, and shipped with polyfill installed. Micro Series enclosures carry a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials.

What does the D4 in RS-W10D4 mean?

Dual voice coil, 4 ohms per coil. It is the coil configuration rather than a model size. You need it to work out your final impedance and confirm your amplifier is stable at it.

Which F-150 years does the direct fit build cover?

2015 to 2023, including the F-250. Ford changed the platform for 2024 and the boxes are not interchangeable. If you have a 2024 or later truck, contact us.

Should I choose shallow or standard depth?

If the space is fixed by the vehicle, shallow. If you have room for a conventional driver, a conventional driver in a conventional box will usually give you more for the money.

Can you build for other Alpine subwoofers?

Yes. Give us the exact model, sealed or ported, single or dual, and your maximum external dimensions.

What is the difference between the bare and loaded versions?

The loaded version arrives with the RS-W10D4 mounted, wired and sealed against the baffle. The bare cabinet is for people who already own the driver.

Do I still need an amplifier?

Yes. These are passive enclosures. For a single subwoofer a monoblock matched to your final impedance is the standard approach.
