Cut for Alpine RS-W and R2-W

Alpine builds two subwoofer families we cut enclosures for: the shallow-mount RS-W series and the standard-depth R2-W R-Series. Both need a cabinet matched to their published parameters, and the shallow line in particular is usually chosen because space is tight, which makes the enclosure choice part of the same problem.

Every box here is CNC-cut in Tullahoma, Tennessee, to the alignment Alpine publishes for the driver it names. Most ship bare, ready for a driver you already own.

Sealed Alpine enclosures in stock across Performance Optimized, Micro and Vehicle Specific Series, in wedge, down-fire and standard orientations.

Cut, assembled and finished in Tullahoma, Tennessee, to the parameters Alpine publishes for each driver. Polyfill pre-installed on every sealed build.

Driver parameters are taken from Alpine's published data. We build enclosures to those figures; except for the one model we stock, we do not sell Alpine drivers and make no claim to represent the brand.

Alpine Enclosures by Model and Orientation

Every cabinet is cut for a named Alpine driver, so the model number is the match to work from rather than the nominal size. Orientation decides where the box can sit; the series decides how it is built.

Cut for the Driver, Not for the Brand

A box that merely says "fits 10 inch" is not the same thing as a box cut for an Alpine RS-W10. Net volume, baffle cutout and mounting depth are all driver-specific, and a shallow driver in a cabinet designed around a standard-depth motor gives up exactly the thing you bought the shallow driver for.

So these are cut per model. The RS-W boxes are built around the shallow motor and the clearance it needs; the R2-W boxes are built around the R-Series alignment. Picking the cabinet that names your driver is the whole decision.

How to Choose

Start with your model number

RS-W or R2-W, 10 inch or 12. That single answer narrows the range to a handful.

Decide single or dual

A dual is not two singles joined together. Each chamber is cut tighter than the same driver would get on its own so the cabinet still fits the same space, and that is deliberate.

Pick the orientation that suits the space

Wedge sits flush against a seat back or trunk wall. Down-fire aims the cone at the floor and needs designed-in clearance underneath. Standard front-firing is the default when neither constraint applies.

Loaded or bare

Most of these ship bare for a driver you already own. The loaded builds arrive with the Alpine RS-W10D4 fitted, which is the one Alpine driver we stock.

Which Alpine Do You Have?

The model number does the work here. Match it and the rest follows.

RS-W series

Alpine's shallow-mount line. If you chose it because the space under a seat or in a cargo well would not take a standard driver, then the cabinet has the same constraint and the Micro Series builds exist for exactly that.

R2-W series

The standard-depth R-Series. These get Performance Optimized cabinets cut to the R2-W alignment, in wedge form for a 10 or a 12, single or dual.

Then confirm the space

Measure the opening with trim in place rather than off a drawing, and remember that a down-fire cabinet needs its feet clearance included in the total height. Published external dimensions are on each product page.

Nine of Eleven Ship Bare

Most of these cabinets are cut for an Alpine driver you already own and arrive without one. Two are loaded with the Alpine RS-W10D4, the single Alpine driver we stock. We are not an Alpine dealer and do not carry the wider Alpine line, so for any other model source the driver where you like and buy the box from us.

RS-W and R2-W Are Not Interchangeable

Alpine publishes different parameters and different mounting depths for the two families, so the cabinets are cut differently. Putting a shallow RS-W in a box built around the R2-W alignment gives up the performance you paid for, and going the other way can leave you short of clearance. Match the model number on the product page.

Three Orientations, Three Series

Every cabinet here is in stock. Performance Optimized is the bulk of it, cut to one driver on a 1.5 inch double baffle. Micro Series covers the shallow-space builds, and a Vehicle Specific cabinet covers the behind-seat space in the 2015 to 2023 Ford F-150 and F-250.

Orientation is split fairly evenly between wedge, down-fire and standard. All of them are sealed, and every sealed cabinet we build ships with polyfill already installed.

Alpine Subwoofer Box Questions

Which Alpine subwoofers do these boxes fit?

The cabinets here are cut for Alpine's RS-W shallow-mount series and the standard-depth R2-W R-Series, in 10 and 12 inch. Each product page names the exact model it was designed around, and that is the match to go by rather than the nominal driver size.

Do you sell Alpine subwoofers as well?

We stock the Alpine RS-W10D4 shallow 10, which is the driver in our loaded builds. The rest ship bare, for a driver you already own or source elsewhere. We are not an Alpine dealer and do not carry the wider Alpine line.

Can I put an RS-W in a box built for an R2-W?

You should not. The two have different published parameters and different mounting depths, so the cabinet volume and the baffle are cut differently. Using the wrong one gives up the performance the driver is capable of, and on a shallow driver it can also cause a clearance problem.

Are these sealed or ported?

Every one is sealed. Sealed suits these drivers and it is the alignment Alpine publishes parameters for in the sizes we cut. Every sealed cabinet we build ships with polyfill already installed.

What is the difference between the series?

Performance Optimized cabinets are cut to one driver on a 1.5 inch double baffle. Micro Series cabinets are the shallow-space builds, for openings that will not take a standard cabinet. The single Vehicle Specific box is cut to a named vehicle, in this case the 2015 to 2023 Ford F-150 and F-250 behind-seat space.

Do you build Alpine enclosures to order?

Yes. Everything here is CNC-cut in Tullahoma, Tennessee. If you need a size or an orientation that is not listed for your Alpine model, contact us and we will tell you whether we can cut it.
