A Professional Series ported cabinet cut for the Skar Audio EVL 12 at $399.99. Ported because that is what the EVL wants. It is a high excursion driver with a motor built for output, and putting it in a sealed box sized by rule of thumb wastes most of what you paid for.

The cabinet is cut from Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF on our own routers, internally braced, and prewired to a Proline X terminal cup. Net volume and port tuning come from the EVL 12 published parameters rather than a generic 12 inch template.

We Build for Skar, We Do Not Sell Skar

Worth being straight about. We are not a Skar dealer and we do not stock their drivers. What we do is cut enclosures, and enclosure fitment is a question of geometry and Thiele Small parameters rather than of who you buy the sub from.

So if you own a Skar driver and want a box built properly for it rather than a prefab sized by cone diameter, that is exactly what this is. You supply the sub, we supply the cabinet.

Other Skar Drivers

The EVL 12 is the model we list. It is not the only one we can build for. The SDR, VD, ZVX and the other EVL sizes are all buildable, and so are dual configurations of any of them.

What we need is the exact model, whether you want sealed or ported, and your maximum external dimensions. Skar drivers vary a lot in what they want from a cabinet, particularly across the SDR and ZVX lines, so the alignment matters more here than on a milder driver.

How These Are Built

Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF, CNC cut on ShopSabre routers in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Internally braced, prewired to a Proline X ABS and carbon fiber terminal cup with stainless steel hardware. Professional Series enclosures carry a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials.

Frequently Asked Skar Enclosure Questions

Do you sell Skar subwoofers?

No. We build enclosures for them but do not stock the drivers. You buy the sub wherever you prefer and we cut the cabinet.

Why is the EVL 12 box ported rather than sealed?

The EVL is built for output. Its parameters put it firmly in ported territory, and a sealed cabinet would cost you a large part of the low end the driver is capable of. If you specifically want sealed for space or sound quality reasons we can build it, but understand you are trading away output to get there.

Can you build for the SDR, VD or ZVX?

Yes, in single or dual, sealed or ported. Give us the exact model and your maximum external dimensions. Those lines differ enough from each other that we would size each one from its own parameters rather than reusing a template.

Will a generic 12 inch box work for my Skar?

It will physically mount. Whether it performs is a different question. High excursion drivers are more sensitive to net volume and port area than mild ones, and a box sized by cone diameter rather than by parameters is where most disappointing installs come from.

What port area do I need?

More than most people expect on a driver like this. Undersized ports produce audible chuffing at high output, which sounds like a mechanical fault but is just air velocity. Our port area calculator will give you a working figure from your driver and tuning frequency.

What is the warranty?

Professional Series enclosures carry a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials. Any warranty on the Skar driver itself is handled through Skar.
