Ampere Audio builds three subwoofer lines, the AA-2.0, AA-2.75 and AA-3.0, and they do not want the same cabinet. Every enclosure here is cut around one named driver, from 8 inch up to 18 inch, sealed or ported, in wedge, down-fire and Professional Series form. Match the model number on your subwoofer to the model on the listing and the alignment is already done.

Three Ampere Lines, Each With Its Own Cabinet

The AA-2.0, AA-2.75 and AA-3.0 differ in their published parameters, which means they differ in the net volume and tuning that gets the best out of them. We cut each one separately rather than offering a single box per size and hoping it fits.

AA-2.0

Sealed wedge and sealed down-fire cabinets for the 8 and 10, single and dual. Ported down-fire cabinets for the 8, 10 and 12, and ported wedges for the 10 and 12.

AA-2.75

The widest spread on the page. Sealed wedge and down-fire cabinets for the 8, 12, 15 and 18, a ported Performance Optimized wedge for the 15, and Professional Series ported cabinets from 8 to 18 inch with dual versions for the 8, 12 and 15.

AA-3.0

The top of the Ampere range gets a sealed dual down-fire for the 12, sealed wedge and down-fire cabinets for the 15 and 18, and Professional Series ported cabinets for the 10, 12, 15 and 18.

Sealed, Ported and Down-Fire

Performance Optimized cabinets are cut to one driver on a 1.5 inch double baffle. The wedge versions suit a trunk or cargo floor against the rear seat, and the down-fire versions put the cone toward the floor for a lower overall profile. Every sealed cabinet ships with polyfill already installed.

Professional Series cabinets are our ported builds for output. They take more space and more power than a sealed cabinet for the same driver, and the tuning frequency is stated on each listing.

12 Ampere Audio models, each with its own cabinets. Ported tunings are the frequency each box is tuned to.

AA-2.0 8: sealed wedge in single and dual; sealed down-fire in single and dual; ported down-fire in single at 33 Hz. AA-2.75 8: sealed wedge in single and dual; sealed down-fire in dual; ported standard in single and dual at 33 to 33.5 Hz.

10 inch

AA-2.0 10: sealed wedge in single and dual; sealed down-fire in single and dual; ported wedge in single at 35.5 Hz; ported down-fire in single at 34 Hz. AA-2.75 10: ported standard in single at 32.5 Hz. AA-3.0 10: ported standard in single at 27.5 Hz.

12 inch

AA-2.0 12: ported wedge in single at 32.5 Hz; ported down-fire in single at 32.5 Hz. AA-2.75 12: sealed wedge in single and dual; sealed down-fire in dual; ported standard in single and dual at 34 to 35 Hz. AA-3.0 12: sealed down-fire in dual; ported standard in single at 27.5 Hz.

How to Choose an Ampere Audio Box

Start from the model number, not the size

Two Ampere Audio drivers of the same diameter rarely want the same cabinet. Read the model on the magnet or the label, then open that model in the directory above. Every box listed under it was cut to that driver's published parameters.

Sealed or ported

Sealed cabinets are smaller, tighter and need less power, and every one ships with polyfill installed. Ported cabinets play louder around their tuning frequency, which on this page runs from 27.5 to 36 Hz, but take more space and more amplifier.

Single and dual

Multi-driver cabinets take two or more of the same model. Plan the wiring before you order and confirm your amplifier is stable at the final impedance it produces.

Pick the cabinet style that suits the vehicle

A wedge sits against the rear seat on a trunk or cargo floor and angles the driver up into the cabin. A down-fire aims the cone at the floor for a lower overall height and keeps cargo off the cone. It needs a flat, solid floor. Professional Series cabinets are our ported builds for output.

Measure Before You Order

Outside dimensions on this page run from 11.16" W x 11.75" H x 12.79" D, tapering to 8.51" for the single wedge sealed cut for the AA-2.75 8, up to 36.00" W x 21.00" H x 20.00" D for the single standard ported cut for the AA-3.0 18. Every listing states its own figures, so check them against the space with the trim in place.

Wedges

Wedge depth is given at the base and at the top. Measure the floor depth with the seat back in the position you drive with, not folded forward.

Down-fire clearance

Down-fire dimensions are taken in the down-fire position and exclude the feet or standoffs, which set the gap between cone and floor. Measure with weight on the carpet because it compresses, and allow for anything that sits above the cabinet.

Which Ampere Audio subwoofers do these boxes fit?

The AA-2.0, AA-2.75 and AA-3.0 lines, from 8 to 18 inch. Each product page names the exact model it was cut for. Match the model number, not just the driver size.

Can I put an AA-2.75 in a box cut for the AA-2.0?

Not without giving something up. The two lines want different net volumes, so order the cabinet cut for the line you own or you give up output and control.

Should I choose sealed or ported?

Sealed cabinets are smaller and give tighter, more controlled bass with less power. Ported cabinets play louder around their tuning frequency but need more space and more amplifier. If space is tight, start with sealed.

Do the sealed boxes come with polyfill?

Yes. Every sealed cabinet ships with polyfill installed. The ported cabinets ship without it.

Do I need anything else to install one?

An amplifier and wiring. These are passive enclosures, prewired to the terminal cup, with no amplification built in.
