Why We Carry Image Dynamics

Image Dynamics has been a benchmark brand in sound quality competition since the early days of the SQ format. The brand built its reputation on engineering subwoofers and speakers for accuracy, linearity, and musical bass reproduction at the reference level. The IDMAX subwoofer line remains one of the most respected driver lineups in the SQ community.

What sets Image Dynamics apart is the engineering depth. The IDMAX uses high-excursion technology with a parabolic Santoprene surround, glass fiber pulp cone, and aluminum neck joint, components engineered to provide rigidity, reduce cone deformation, and minimize distortion at high excursion. The replaceable cone design extends driver lifespan in heavy-use applications. The IDQ uses poly/mica cone and Nomex spider construction tuned for tonal accuracy and high power handling. Each tier is engineered to perform at its price point rather than built to a price point.

The SQ amplifier line follows the same approach. International Rectifier circuitry, full-range digital topology, and a compact form factor designed for car audio installations where space matters. The amplifiers complete the system Image Dynamics designed their drivers to perform in.

The subwoofers get most of the attention, but the amplifier and speaker lines are the half of the catalogue that decides whether the bass integrates with anything. Both are stocked here.

SQ Series Amplifiers

Three chassis cover the line. The SQ600.1D (600W mono) and SQ1200.1D (1200W mono) are subwoofer amplifiers, sized to the IDQ and IDMAX tiers respectively. The SQ800.4 is an 800W four-channel full-range amplifier for a front stage plus rear fill, or bridged to run a front stage and a sub from one chassis. If you are running a single IDMAX and an active front stage, the SQ1200.1D and SQ800.4 together cover the whole system.

ID Series Coaxials and Component Sets

The coaxials replace factory speakers in factory locations without fabrication: ID4 (4 inch), ID57 (5x7 inch), ID65 (6.5 inch) and ID69 (6x9 inch). For a real imaging front stage, the ID65CS component system and the CXS64 V2 6.5 inch component set separate the tweeter so it can be mounted on-axis in the sail panel or A-pillar. Component sets are the upgrade that changes the stage height; coaxials are the upgrade that changes the tone.

Proline X Matched Enclosures for Image Dynamics

Audio Intensity manufactures Proline X subwoofer enclosures spec-matched to Image Dynamics drivers. The matched enclosures use internal volume, baffle dimensions, and (where applicable) port tuning calculated from each driver's published Thiele-Small parameters.

For IDMAX: The Professional Series Pro 10-S IDM and Pro 12-S IDM are sealed enclosures built specifically for the IDMAX 10 and IDMAX 12. Double-baffle construction with threaded inserts matched to the IDMAX bolt pattern, polyfill, and 12 gauge OFC pre-wiring landed at the Proline X composite terminal cup. Dual configurations available.

For IDQ: The Performance Optimized PO ID 10-S and PO ID 10D-S are sealed enclosures built specifically for the IDQ 10 and dual IDQ 10 builds. Driver-matched volume tuning calculated from IDQ V4 Thiele-Small parameters.

Ported options: Performance Optimized ported wedges and ported down-fire cabinets are cut for the ID, IDQ, IDQS and IDMAX lines in 8, 10 and 12 inch, each solved from the driver's published parameters with the tuning frequency stated on the listing. If you're building around an Image Dynamics driver, the matched Proline X enclosure extracts measurably more performance than a universal-fit box would with the same driver. The matched enclosure is the difference between an Image Dynamics subwoofer performing as designed and one performing approximately as designed.
