The ID is the entry tier of the Image Dynamics subwoofer line, the accessible way into the brand's sound. It runs a poly/mica cone on a rubber surround with a dual voice coil and the same extended Y-35 motor architecture as the tiers above it, scaled to a price point rather than built down to one. It is the driver for a first real subwoofer, or a clean daily-driver build that still carries the Image Dynamics character.
Where the IDMAX and IDQ move to Santoprene surrounds, a field-replaceable cone and higher excursion, the ID keeps a rubber surround, a fixed cone and a shallower mount, 4.45 to 5.67 inches deep, for the most output per dollar in the lineup. Every ID is available dual 2-ohm or dual 4-ohm.

The 8 runs 150W RMS at 12.5mm of excursion; the 10 and 12 share 250W RMS at 14mm, so between the two the choice is enclosure size and the output you want, not power. Mounting depth runs 4.45 inches on the 8, 5.12 on the 10, and 5.67 on the 12. Every model publishes its full Thiele-Small parameters on its product page.

The IDQ and IDMAX both step up to a parabolic Santoprene surround and a field-replaceable cone that can be re-coned rather than replaced; the IDQ uses a mica-reinforced cone, and the IDMAX flagship adds a glass-fiber cone with the highest excursion. All three share the Image Dynamics sound family; they differ in how far the build pushes and what it costs.
The ID8 is 150W RMS (300W peak), and the ID10 and ID12 are each 250W RMS (500W peak). All three are available dual 2-ohm or dual 4-ohm. Match your amplifier's RMS output at your wired impedance to the driver's RMS rating, not the peak figure, ideally 100% to 150% of it.
A monoblock matched to the driver's RMS at your wired impedance. The Image Dynamics SQ600.1D suits a single ID cleanly. Wire the dual 2 or 4-ohm coils to the load where your amp makes its rated clean power, and set the gain properly, since clipping is what kills a driver, not clean power.
