The IDMAX is the Image Dynamics flagship subwoofer, a sound-quality driver built for accuracy and control at high excursion. It is the reference the brand's reputation rests on, and it is handcrafted in the USA. If you are building a system judged on how the bass sounds, not just how loud it goes, this is the driver the rest of the line is measured against.
The V4 runs a glass-fiber and pulp cone, a parabolic Santoprene surround, a Nomex spider, and an extended Y-35 motor with an American-made flat-wound voice coil. The glass-fiber cone and the highest excursion in the line are what set it apart from the IDQ and ID below it. Like the IDQ, the IDMAX uses a field-replaceable cone, a 16-screw no-glue assembly that lets the driver be serviced rather than thrown away when the cone wears, which is why an IDMAX outlasts most of what it competes with.
Every IDMAX V4 we stock, with power and excursion verified against the manufacturer. All three are dual 2-ohm. Power is RMS with the peak figure alongside; Xmax is the one-way linear figure.

The 10 and 12 share the same 500W RMS rating and 19mm-class excursion, so the choice between them is enclosure size and the output you want, not power. The 15 steps up to 600W RMS and 22mm of one-way travel for the deepest extension in the line. Mounting depth runs 7.68 inches on the 10, 8.15 on the 12, and 10.43 on the 15. The IDMAX performs at its best in a properly matched enclosure. It is engineered for accuracy and control at high excursion, and its glass-fiber cone and high excursion are what set it apart from the IDQ and ID lines below it. Like the IDQ, it uses a field-replaceable cone assembly, so it can be re-coned rather than replaced.
The IDMAX cone assembly is held by 16 screws with no glue, so when the cone wears from heavy use the driver can be serviced and re-coned rather than scrapped. That makes the IDMAX a buy-once driver: the motor and basket outlast several cones. It is the practical reason an IDMAX holds its value in a heavy-use system.
The IDMAX10 V4 and IDMAX12 V4 are 500W RMS (1000W peak), and the IDMAX15 V4 is 600W RMS (1200W peak). All three are dual 2-ohm. Match your amplifier's RMS output at your wired impedance to the driver's RMS rating, not the peak figure, ideally 100% to 150% of it.
