INSTALLER'S TAKE

The GUS-10 is the front subwoofer platform of the moment in the SQ enthusiast space. Fs of 16.91 Hz and Qts of 0.35 put it in the same operating category as the GUS-12 — a low-Qts, high-motor-force driver that produces flat anechoic response near 0.707 Qtc in a small sealed enclosure, extending well below 20 Hz. At 4.12 inches of mounting depth and 500 watts RMS it will fit under seats, in passenger footwells, and in tight behind-seat locations where the GUS-12 cannot go. The 6-inch total enclosure depth is the practical advantage of the GUS-10 over the GUS-12 for the tightest installs.

The volume on this enclosure is 0.63 cubic feet net. ResoNix's 0.707 Qtc target for the GUS-10 is 0.60 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace, with a driver displacement of 0.031 cubic feet. The acoustic difference between 0.60 and 0.63 cubic feet at a Qts of 0.35 is negligible — the Qtc shift is fractional and fully addressable with a shelf filter on any competent DSP. In a vehicle cabin, it is not audible. This is not a concern.

The DSP requirement is the same as every other GUS series build in this series. A Qts of 0.35 means the system will sound lean in the upper bass register without active equalization — the sealed 0.707 Qtc alignment produces a flat, extended anechoic response, not a naturally warm or punchy daily-driver character. This is a front subwoofer or SQ competition driver. A Goldhorn DSP with a proper bass shelf is the correct operating environment. With that in place, the GUS-10's Klippel-verified 18.37mm one-way Xmax at BL 70% and Fs of 16.91 Hz will produce the deepest, cleanest bass output available from any 10" driver at this mounting depth.

Overview
Micro Series | GUS-10 | Enclosure Only

Built for the ResoNix GUS-10.
Klippel-Verified Performance in 6 Inches of Depth.

The ResoNix GUS-10 has a measured Fs of 16.91 Hz, a Qts of 0.35, and Klippel-verified Xmax of 18.37mm at BL 70% — the same engineering platform as the GUS-12 and GUS-15, scaled to a 10" format. The Proline X Micro Series enclosure delivers 0.63 cubic feet of sealed airspace in a double-layer stack-fab build at 6 inches of total depth — near ResoNix's 0.60 cubic foot optimum in the most compact shell in the GUS Micro Series lineup.

0.63 cu ft — Near ResoNix's 0.60 Optimum

ResoNix publishes a 0.707 Qtc target of 0.60 cubic feet for the GUS-10, with a driver displacement of 0.031 cubic feet. The correct gross build volume to deliver exactly 0.60 cubic feet of net acoustic airspace after the driver is installed is 0.60 + 0.031 = 0.631 cubic feet. This enclosure delivers 0.63 cubic feet net — hitting ResoNix's 0.60 acoustic target, which places the system Qtc fractionally above 0.707 and shifts the anechoic -3dB point marginally upward.

In a real vehicle cabin, where bass frequencies below 80 Hz receive significant gain from acoustic boundaries, the difference between 0.60 and 0.63 cubic feet net is not audible. The GUS-10 in this enclosure performs within the band of ResoNix's published optimum range, and with active DSP shelf EQ the in-cabin response is fully correctable to any target curve the driver's T/S parameters support.

The GUS-10 — Same Platform as the GUS-12 and GUS-15, in a 10" Format

The GUS-10 shares the core engineering of the GUS-12 and GUS-15: FEA-optimized overhung motor, patent-pending copper shorting sleeve, copper shorting rings, titanium voice coil former, Nomex/carbon fiber cone, and vented rear cone assembly. Every major parameter is Klippel-verified. The BL(x), CMS(x), Le(x), and QTS(x) data is published.

The GUS-10 is the entry point into the GUS series — 500 watts RMS, 18.37mm one-way Xmax at BL 70%, Fs of 16.91 Hz, and Qts of 0.35. Like the GUS-12, the low Qts means DSP is the correct operating environment for this driver. At 0.707 Qtc the anechoic response is flat and extended but lean in the upper bass without active shelf EQ. A Goldhorn DSP or equivalent processor is the right companion. The GUS-10 is the front subwoofer platform on the enthusiast market right now — its 4.12" mounting depth and compact sealed enclosure footprint put it in locations where nothing else with its distortion performance and extension capability can go.

1.5" Double-Layer Baffle — Stack Fab, Dado Joinery, Dowel Reinforced

The front baffle is a double-layer stack-fab build — two CNC-cut Langboard Elite MDF panels bonded to 1.5 inches total. The stack-fab assembly is further reinforced with dowels throughout, adding mechanical alignment and shear resistance at every panel joint beyond what dado joinery and adhesive alone provide. At 500 watts RMS on a 10" driver with 18.37mm of one-way Xmax, the structural demands on the baffle are real — double-layer construction eliminates panel resonance at the source rather than allowing it to color the bass output.

Every panel joint uses CNC-cut interlocking dado slots. The 6-inch total depth gives side walls adequate geometric rigidity for the load, and Langboard Elite MDF at 200 psi internal bond and 410,000 psi MOE holds the structure over the life of the installation.

Volume

0.63 cu ft — Near ResoNix's 0.60 Optimum

ResoNix's 0.707 Qtc target is 0.60 cu ft net acoustic. This enclosure delivers 0.63 cu ft — within the functional band of that target. With active DSP, the marginal Qtc difference is correctable and acoustically irrelevant in-cabin.

Driver

Klippel-Verified 18.37mm Xmax — Published LSI Data

The GUS-10's 18.37mm Xmax at BL 70% is a Klippel large-signal measurement. BL symmetry, CMS linearity, and Le stability across stroke are all published by ResoNix — the same transparency standard applied to every driver they independently test.

Baffle

1.5" Double-Layer — Dowel Reinforced Stack Fab

Two bonded layers of Langboard Elite 3/4" MDF at 1.5 inches total, reinforced with dowels throughout the stack-fab assembly. Baffle panel resonance adds acoustic coloration — double-layer construction at 1.5 inches eliminates it structurally.

Mounting

8/32 Threaded Inserts — Machine Screws Included

The baffle is fitted with 8/32 threaded inserts on the back face. Stainless machine screws are included. The GUS-10 mounts to steel — consistent clamping force, no stripping, clean reinstallation at any service interval.

Wiring

Proline X Terminal Cup — Pre-Wired with 12g OFC

The Proline X ABS/carbon fiber terminal cup with stainless hardware and copper ring terminals is installed and pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC to the driver position. Connect your amplifier run and wiring is complete.

Cutout

235.3mm Direct-Fit — Machined for the GUS-10

The baffle cutout is machined to the GUS-10's 235.3mm mounting diameter. The driver seats flush, seals against the included rubber mounting ring gasket, and mounts to the threaded inserts without shimming or modification.

DSP

Active EQ Required — Same Character as the GUS-12

The GUS-10's Qts of 0.35 and Fs of 16.91 Hz produce a 0.707 Qtc sealed alignment — flat anechoic response that needs active shelf EQ to build the in-cabin curve. A Goldhorn DSP or equivalent is the correct companion. Without EQ, upper bass will sound lean — that is the alignment doing what it was designed to do.

Configuration

Front-Firing or Downfiring — Feet Included

Rubber feet for downfiring installation are included. The GUS-10's vented rear cone assembly allows the pole vent to be fully obstructed — downfire in a tight enclosure is viable with no acoustic penalty. ResoNix notes minimal real-world difference between orientations; choose based on install practicality.

Clearance

23mm Minimum Front Clearance

ResoNix specifies a minimum of 23mm of clearance between the top of the GUS-10's surround and whatever is in front of the driver. Confirm this against your seat, cargo cover, or any surface positioned in front of the driver before mounting. Surround contact at full excursion causes mechanical damage not covered under warranty.

Reinforcement

Dowel-Reinforced Stack Fab — Three Systems at Every Joint

Dowels throughout the stack-fab assembly add mechanical alignment and shear resistance at panel joints independent of adhesive condition. Dado joinery + adhesive + dowels — all three mechanical systems locking every joint against sustained load over the life of the installation.

Ready to Mount. Ready to Wire. Built for DSP Systems.

The enclosure ships fully prepped. The Proline X terminal cup is installed and pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC — connect your amplifier run and wiring is complete. The double-layer baffle uses 8/32 threaded inserts with stainless machine screws included. Rubber feet for downfiring are included. Polyfill is factory-installed.

Impedance Options — D2 and D4

The GUS-10 is available as a Dual 2-ohm (D2) and Dual 4-ohm (D4). D2 T/S parameters are not yet finalized by ResoNix — D4 data is published. Wire the D4 parallel for 2 ohms or series for 8 ohms. Wire the D2 parallel for 1 ohm or series for 4 ohms. The D4 wired parallel at 2 ohms into a 2-ohm-stable monoblock delivering 400–500 watts RMS is the practical target for most builds. Confirm your amplifier's stable impedance before selecting the voice coil configuration.

Where It Fits

At 26" × 14" × 6", this is the most compact GUS enclosure in the Micro Series. The 4.12" driver mounting depth and 6" total enclosure depth open install locations that the GUS-12 cannot reach:

  • Under-seat — compact cars, sport sedans, crossovers
  • Passenger footwell — front sub applications
  • Behind-seat — compact and mid-size truck cabs
  • Trunk corner — compact cars and coupes
  • Side cargo panel — SUVs and crossovers
  • Front subwoofer builds — DSP-controlled SQ and competition systems

Built From a Spec Sheet, Not a Sales Sheet

Every Proline X Micro Series enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF — 3/4" (18mm) panels produced to published mill specifications. Most enclosure manufacturers source generic MDF without published data. We can tell you the internal bond rating, the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rupture, and the face and edge screw holding strength for every panel in this enclosure — because we chose the material based on those numbers, not on price or availability.

Langboard Elite is produced in the United States. The specifications below are pulled directly from Langboard's published mill data and are verifiable. This is the same panel stock used across the full Proline X lineup.

Specifications

Langboard Elite MDF — Published Mill Data

Property Value Why It Matters
Panel Stock Langboard Elite MDF Named, verifiable panel source — not generic "high-density MDF"
Thickness 3/4" (18mm) Industry standard for subwoofer enclosures; panels below this flex under pressure
Density 48.5 lbs/ft³ Higher density = less porosity, better screw retention, reduced resonance
Internal Bond 200 psi Measures resistance to delamination under sustained internal pressure — the most enclosure-relevant spec on this sheet
Modulus of Rupture (MOR) 4,200 psi Bending strength before the panel breaks — relevant for larger unsupported baffle spans
Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) 410,000 psi Stiffness under load; higher MOE means less panel flex under bass pressure, less resonance
Face Screw Holding 325 lbs How firmly the panel surface holds a screw; critical for baffle joint integrity over time
Edge Screw Holding 250 lbs Panel edge retention — relevant for every joint that isn't face-to-face
Internal Bond

200 psi — The Number That Actually Matters for Enclosures

The internal bond rating measures how well the MDF panel resists delamination under sustained pressure applied perpendicular to the face. In a subwoofer enclosure, every bass transient generates a pressure pulse that pushes outward on every panel simultaneously. A panel that begins to delaminate internally loses stiffness gradually — the symptoms are slow: a box that starts to sound softer, less defined, less punchy over months of use. 200 psi internal bond is the spec that determines how long this enclosure holds its acoustic integrity under daily use at real power levels.

Stiffness

410,000 psi MOE — Less Flex, Less Resonance

The modulus of elasticity measures panel stiffness — resistance to bending under load. A stiffer panel flexes less under the pressure generated by a high-excursion driver at volume. Panel flex is a source of acoustic coloration: the panel itself begins to radiate sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the output. 410,000 psi stiffness combined with stack-fab layering and dado joinery means the panels stay rigid and the bracing controls resonance at the structure level — not the panel level. The bass you hear comes from the driver, not the box.

Screw Holding

325 lb Face / 250 lb Edge — Joints That Stay Locked

Screw holding strength determines how firmly the panel grips a fastener at the face and at the edge. This matters most at the baffle joint — where the front panel meets the side panels and where the driver is mounted. A panel with low screw holding strength allows fasteners to loosen over time under vibration, leading to air gaps at the joint and loss of acoustic seal. 325 lb face screw holding strength means the baffle hardware stays put. Combined with dado joinery and adhesive, the front panel on a Proline X Micro Series enclosure is not going anywhere.

Sourcing

Named Panel Stock — Not "Premium MDF"

The phrase "premium MDF" or "high-density MDF" appears on marketing copy for enclosures across every price point, from $40 to $400. It is not a specification — it is a description with no defined standard. Langboard Elite is a named, sourced, mill-documented product with published data. We name it in our copy because naming it holds us accountable to the spec. You can look up Langboard Elite independently, verify the numbers on this page, and confirm you are getting what we say you are getting. That is the point.
