The variable phase shift, adjustable from 0 to 180 degrees, aligns the subwoofer's output timing with the rest of the system. When the subwoofer and front speakers are out of phase at the crossover point, bass cancels and sounds detached from the music. Adjusting phase locks the subwoofer to the front stage so bass arrives blended and full.38

The US Acoustics Big Ben requires external fusing rated at 400 amps, which is not included. That requirement reflects the current this amplifier can draw at full output, so plan on quality large-gauge power and ground cable, a big three wiring upgrade at minimum, and a realistic look at alternator and battery capacity for sustained high-volume playback.
