SKU: NB5-12D2
The Prodigy Audio NB5 Series 12-inch subwoofer is engineered for the enthusiast who demands more than just loud—it is built for structural authority. Designed to bridge the gap between daily reliability and competition-grade performance, the NB5-12 handles a true 1200 watts RMS without breaking a sweat. Whether you are chasing hair tricks or a perfectly balanced SQL stage, this driver provides the motor force and thermal capacity to sustain high-output sessions in the harshest environments.
Heat is the enemy of performance, and the NB5-12 is built to defeat it. It features a massive motor structure with 280 ounces of high-grade ferrite and a 2.75-inch diameter voice coil wound with high-temperature flat aluminum wire. To keep the gap cool, Prodigy implemented a vented pole design combined with radial coil gap vents. The heavy-duty cast aluminum frame doesn't just provide rigidity; it acts as a massive heat sink, pulling BTU's away from the coil to ensure zero power compression during extended play.
With 27mm of linear Xmax (one-way @ 70% BL) and a staggering 50mm of downward mechanical clearance, the NB5-12 moves massive amounts of air with clinical precision. A large inner pole Faraday shorting ring is utilized to minimize inductive distortion, ensuring that the bass remains tight and accurate even at the limits of its travel. Mated to a competition-grade treated paper cone and reinforced foam surround, this subwoofer delivers the "thick," deep lows that Prodigy Audio is known for.

Pro Tip: EBP is just one factor in enclosure design. Always use complete Thiele-Small parameters and modeling software for optimal results. Our custom enclosures are engineered specifically for each subwoofer's parameters.
The Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP) is calculated by dividing the subwoofer's resonant frequency (Fs) by its electrical damping (Qes). This single number helps predict which enclosure type will work best with your subwoofer.
