Professional Series Subwoofer Enclosures Built for Maximum Output and Control

What Makes Professional Series Different

The Professional Series is built to a higher specification than the Performance and Performance Optimized tiers. Three things define it: double-baffle construction (minimum), driver-specific tuning calculated from the manufacturer's published Thiele-Small parameters, and threaded inserts matched to each manufacturer's bolt pattern. The combination produces an enclosure that supports the highest output levels the driver can deliver without panel flex, mounting deformation, or alignment drift over the life of the install.

Double-Layer Baffle Minimum

The baffle is the panel that holds the driver. On a high-output build, it sees the most direct mechanical stress in the enclosure. Single-baffle construction eventually flexes under sustained high excursion, which alters the driver's effective mounting and changes its acoustic behavior. The Professional Series uses double-layer baffles as the minimum spec, with some driver applications stepping to triple-layer construction. The result is a mounting surface that holds dimension under sustained competition-level output.

Driver-Specific Tuning

Internal volume, port dimensions (where applicable), and cabinet geometry are calculated for the specific driver model the enclosure is built for. The published Thiele-Small parameters determine the alignment, not a generic template. For an Image Dynamics IDMAX, the cabinet is calculated for IDMAX behavior. For a JL Audio 13W7, it's calculated for 13W7 behavior. Each driver gets its own correctly tuned environment.

Threaded Inserts Matched to Bolt Pattern

Driver mounting in the Professional Series uses threaded inserts pressed into the baffle, matched to the specific bolt pattern of the driver the enclosure is built for. Stainless machine screws thread into the inserts. The advantages over wood screws or generic T-nuts: the driver torques securely and consistently, the inserts won't strip out over the life of the install, and the driver can be removed and re-mounted as many times as needed without compromising the baffle.

Driver Brands We Build For

The Professional Series fits drivers from the following manufacturers. Some are carried as drivers; others are fitment service only.

JL Audio W7 Series (10W7, 12W7, 13W7): Carried directly. JL Audio's reference high-output line. The Professional Series is the right enclosure pairing for W7 drivers in serious builds.

Image Dynamics IDMAX (10, 12): Carried directly. The IDMAX is Image Dynamics' SQL flagship. Sealed Professional Series enclosures are tuned for IDMAX accuracy at high output.

Audiomobile Encore 15: Carried directly. The Encore line delivers reference-tier output. The 15 inch Encore Professional Series enclosure is sealed and down-firing for cargo-bay installs.

Kicker Solo X (8, 12): Driver not carried for direct sale, but Audio Intensity supports the Solo X line with Professional Series fitment. The Solo X is a serious high-output driver and a buyer who already owns one (or is buying it elsewhere) gets a fully spec-matched enclosure.

Skar EVL, Sundown SA, Digital Design, Ground Zero Hydrogen: Drivers not carried, fitment service only. These are owner-supplied driver scenarios. Audio Intensity does not sell these driver lines, but we build Professional Series enclosures spec'd to their parameters. If you own one of these drivers, the Professional Series can be built around it. We support the install regardless of where the driver was purchased.

Construction

Cabinet panels are joined using Dado and V-Groove cuts that mechanically interlock at each panel intersection before bonding. The mechanical lock adds shear resistance beyond what adhesive alone provides and maintains panel alignment during assembly and curing. Cabinets are built from Langboard Elite MDF (48.5 lb/ft³ density, 200 psi internal bond strength), the highest-grade MDF available for enclosure construction. Every enclosure is CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers in our Tullahoma, Tennessee facility.

Build Inclusions

The Professional Series ships complete with polyfill (sized to the specific enclosure volume) and 12 gauge OFC pre-wiring landed at the Proline X composite terminal cup. The terminal cup is the Proline X ABS/carbon fiber composite, used across the Proline X enclosure lineup, designed for clean wire termination at higher gauges than standard spring-clip cups will accept.

Cabinet exterior finishes are available in grey trunkliner or plush black carpet, both standard finish options in the Proline X lineup. Driver mounting hardware is not supplied; use stainless 8/32 machine screws sized to your specific driver's basket depth.

Frequently Asked Professional Series Questions

What's the difference between Professional and Performance Optimized?

Both are driver-matched. The Professional Series adds double-layer baffle construction (minimum), threaded inserts matched to each driver manufacturer's bolt pattern, polyfill, and 12 gauge OFC pre-wiring landed at the composite terminal cup. The Performance Optimized series uses single-baffle construction and ships without polyfill, prewiring, or feet for installer customization. Professional is the right choice when the build is competition-grade or when the driver demands the structural support of double-baffle construction.

Why double-layer baffles?

The baffle holds the driver. On a high-output build, it's the panel under the most direct mechanical stress. Single-baffle construction eventually flexes under sustained high excursion, which alters the driver's effective mounting and changes its acoustic behavior. Double-layer baffle construction holds dimension under sustained competition-level output. For a JL Audio W7 or Image Dynamics IDMAX in a serious build, this isn't optional.

Can I use Professional Series enclosures with drivers you don't carry?

Yes. The Professional Series fits the Kicker Solo X line as standard, and we build enclosures for owner-supplied drivers from Skar, Sundown, Digital Design, and Ground Zero on a fitment service basis. The threaded inserts are pre-positioned for the manufacturer's bolt pattern, the cabinet is calculated to the driver's Thiele-Small parameters, and the build supports the install regardless of where the driver was purchased.

What threaded insert spec is used?

Stainless 8/32 threaded inserts pressed into the baffle, matched to each manufacturer's bolt pattern. Some drivers use 8/32, some use other sizes; the inserts in each enclosure are sized to the labeled driver's spec. Driver mounting uses standard machine screws (not supplied; use the spec from the driver manufacturer).

Why include polyfill?

Polyfill is included in sealed Professional Series enclosures because in a sealed alignment, polyfill works with the tuning. It reduces standing wave reflections inside the cabinet and effectively increases the apparent internal volume, giving the driver a slightly larger acoustic environment than the cabinet's physical dimensions. The polyfill quantity in each enclosure is sized to the specific cabinet volume.

What size amplifier do I need?

Match your amplifier's RMS output at your wired impedance to the driver's RMS rating. The Professional Series enclosure doesn't change the power requirement. JL Audio W7 drivers run 750 to 1500W RMS depending on size. Image Dynamics IDMAX drivers run 1000W RMS. Kicker Solo X drivers run 1000 to 2000W RMS. Audiomobile Encore drivers run 1000W RMS. Match the amplifier to the driver's RMS rating at the final wired impedance. Most Professional Series builds run on a high-current monoblock amplifier.
