Driver-Matched for Helix

Helix Subwoofer Enclosures

Sealed cabinets cut to Helix's own published volumes, CNC built in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Driver-Matched for Helix

Every enclosure on this page is cut for a specific Helix subwoofer. Audiotec Fischer publishes a recommended sealed volume for each driver in the IK W, IK S and IQ W ranges, and these cabinets are built to that figure rather than to a round number that happened to fit. That is the whole point of a driver-matched box: the alignment on the page is the alignment you get. Sizes run 8, 10 and 12 inch, single and dual, in rear-firing wedge and floor-firing down fire. The range also includes a ported cabinet shipped loaded with a Helix Precision P8.

36 driver-matched Helix enclosures in stock across three series, two chassis and three sizes, plus MATCH components and a loaded P8 cabinet.

Langboard Elite MDF, CNC cut and assembled in Tullahoma, Tennessee. 1-year limited warranty on Performance Optimized cabinets. Polyfill installed, terminal cup pre-wired, threaded inserts at every mounting point.

Alignments on this page are computed from Helix's own published Thiele-Small parameters and stated anechoic, before cabin gain.

Why Every Helix Cabinet Here Is Sealed

Helix drivers are engineered around a sealed load, and the published parameters say so: the IK and IQ ranges all sit in the sealed half of the efficiency bandwidth scale. A ported cabinet would give up the control these motors are built to deliver. Every box here is sealed for that reason, not as a cost decision. See every sealed cabinet we build, or start at the subwoofer box hub for every orientation and series we build.

Where a generic box gives you whatever airspace its outside dimensions happen to hold, a driver-matched cabinet starts from the volume and works outward. Each one here is solved from the driver's own compliance, resonance and total Q, then nested and cut to that solve. The product page prints the system Q, the box resonance and the half-power point you will actually get, and where a cabinet cannot hit the published volume it says so and prints the figure it does hit.

How to Choose: Depth, Chassis, Then Power

Start with depth. The IK S series exists because the IK W will not fit everywhere: a shallow 12 mounts in 3.76 inches against 5.67 for the full-depth version, and that difference decides whether a cabinet goes under a rear seat or behind one.

Then pick the chassis. A wedge leans against the rear seat back and fires rearward into the trunk, which suits a sedan. A down fire sits flat on the cargo floor with the cone facing down, which is the answer in a truck, an SUV, or anywhere the load floor has to stay flat and there is no seat back to lean against. Both chassis are listed across the catalogue as wedge and down fire.

Power last. The IK range is rated 300 watts RMS per driver and the IQ range 750, with 12 mm of one-way travel against the IK's 6 to 8. If the amplifier is already chosen, that narrows the series before anything else does.

What You Get, and What You Still Need

These are enclosures only. The Helix driver is bought separately, and so are the IQ tuning mass weights, which come with that driver from Helix rather than with the cabinet.

Cutouts are CNC cut to the driver's published installation diameter and the cabinets clear the published mounting depth, so a driver the box names bolts straight in with no trimming. Dual cabinets carry a full bonded divider, so each driver gets its own sealed chamber and its own polyfill rather than sharing one volume with the other.

Measure the space before ordering, and measure for the exact cabinet on the variant you choose. On the IQ listings the four tuning mass settings are four different boxes, and the external dimensions change with the setting.

Mounting Depth, IK W Against IK S

8 inch: 3.98 in full depth, 3.13 in shallow. 10 inch: 4.96 in against 3.33 in. 12 inch: 5.67 in against 3.76 in. The shallow 12 is genuine shallow-mount depth, not a trimmed version of the full-size driver, and it is the one that decides most under-seat and behind-seat builds.

On Helix's Published F3

Every IK datasheet prints a lower limiting frequency equal to that model's own recommended DSP highpass corner, so it reads several hertz lower than the raw sealed response. The IQ sheets carry no filter recommendation and their figures reconcile with the anechoic math to about 2 Hz. Our product pages print the computed anechoic figure either way, and say which is which.

Three Series, Two Chassis, 8 to 12 Inch

IK W, the full-depth range, 12 cabinets from $249.99. Both coil versions share one cabinet per size and chassis, because built to the larger of the two published volumes the SVC2 and DVC2 land on almost the same alignment.

IK S, the shallow range, 12 cabinets from $249.99. Same volumes and the same prices as the W series at every size, on mounting depths of 3.13, 3.33 and 3.76 inches. Both coil versions share one recommended volume here, so one cabinet is unarguably right for both.

IQ W, the flagship range, 12 cabinets from $249.99 to $509.99. 750 watts RMS and 12 mm of travel, and the only range with the Tuning Mass System, so each listing carries several cabinets and you pick the one matching the weights you intend to run.

Also here: a ported 8 inch cabinet shipped loaded with a Helix Precision P8, the one product on this page that arrives with its driver already in it. Cabinets for other drivers are in the rest of the Performance Optimized series.

Helix Enclosure Questions

Is the Helix subwoofer included with the enclosure?

No. These are enclosures only, built to fit a named Helix driver that you buy separately. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet with threaded inserts at every mounting point, stainless machine screws, a pre-wired side-mounted terminal cup and the polyfill lining already installed. The one exception on this page is the ported 8 inch cabinet, which ships loaded with a Helix Precision P8.

What is the difference between the IK W and IK S series?

Depth. The S is the shallow half of the IK range and mounts in 3.13, 3.33 and 3.76 inches at 8, 10 and 12 inch against 3.98, 4.96 and 5.67 for the W. Power handling and cone area are the same, and at each size both series take the same recommended sealed volume, so the enclosures are the same price. Pick the S when the space will not take the W.

What is the Tuning Mass System on the IQ series?

Helix supplies bolt-on weights for the IQ cone assembly. Each weight raises moving mass, which lowers free-air resonance and raises the driver's total Q, so Helix publishes a different recommended sealed volume for every setting. Each IQ listing therefore carries several different cabinets and you choose the one matching the weights you intend to run. The cabinet is cut to that setting, so order the setting you will actually use.

Should I choose a wedge or a down fire?

A wedge leans against the rear seat back and fires rearward into the trunk, which suits a sedan and keeps the space in front of it usable. A down fire sits flat on the cargo floor with the cone facing down, which works in a truck or an SUV, anywhere the load floor has to stay flat, and anywhere there is no seat back to lean a wedge against. Both hold the same airspace at a given size, so the choice is about the vehicle, not the sound.

Why does your half-power figure differ from the Helix datasheet?

On the IK series it differs because the two are different measurements. Helix quotes its lower limiting frequency with that model's own recommended DSP highpass applied, and a filter at that corner lifts the response enough to move the half-power point down to meet it. Ours is the raw anechoic response of the cabinet. On the IQ series there is no filter recommendation and the two figures agree to about 2 Hz.
