Image Dynamics built its name on the IDMAX and IDQ subwoofers and its horn and component front stages, drivers we stock and compete with. The SQ amplifier line is the matching amplification: three Class D amps tuned to a sound-quality brief, with clean filters, adjustable bass boost and honest ratings. If you are already running ID drivers, this is the amplification designed around them.
The line is small on purpose. Two monoblocks, the SQ600.1D and the higher-output SQ1200.1D, cover the subwoofer stage, and the SQ800.4 full-range four-channel runs the front stage. All three are 1-ohm or 2-ohm stable Class D with the filter set an SQ install needs.
Every new Image Dynamics amp we stock, with power and dimensions verified against the manufacturer. Multichannel power is per channel at 4 ohm with the 2 ohm figure in parentheses; the monoblocks show their 4, 2 and 1 ohm ratings.
| Model | Channels | Class | Power (RMS) | Dimensions L×W×H (in) | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SQ600.1D | Monoblock | D | 250W @ 4Ω / 400W @ 2Ω / 600W @ 1Ω | 17.75 × 8.5 × 2.25 | $399.99 |
| SQ800.4 | 4-channel | D | 4 × 100W @ 4Ω (200W @ 2Ω) | 10.5 × 7.25 × 2.0 | $469.99 |
| SQ1200.1D | Monoblock | D | 400W @ 4Ω / 800W @ 2Ω / 1200W @ 1Ω | 20 × 8.5 × 2.25 | $504.99 |
The monoblocks are rated at 1 ohm, with the 4 and 2 ohm figures published so you can match the wiring to the sub. The SQ800.4 is a full-range digital four-channel that bridges to 400W x 2 for a sub. We also carry a previous-demo SQ600.1D at a reduced price when one is in stock; ask if you want it. Every model publishes its full filter set on its product page.
Two Class D subwoofer amps. The SQ600.1D (600W at 1 ohm) suits a single IDQ or a modest IDMAX build, and the SQ1200.1D (1200W at 1 ohm) is the match for a hard-hitting IDMAX 10 or 12. Both carry a variable low-pass, a subsonic filter and 0 to +12dB of bass boost at 45Hz. See monoblock amplifiers and Class D amplifiers.
A full-range digital four-channel, 100W a channel at 4 ohm and 200W at 2 ohm, with a 10Hz to 30kHz bandwidth for the front stage. It bridges to 400W x 2 for a small sub or a set of midbass. This is the amp for an ID horn or component front stage. See 4-channel amplifiers.
Match the amp to the driver and the wiring. The subwoofers live in car subwoofers and the drivers in component sets, tuning belongs to a DSP on an active build, and gain is what protects all of it: how we set amplifier gain. See the full range in the amplifier lineup.
Sound quality. The brand made its name on the IDMAX and IDQ subwoofers and its horn and component front stages, and the SQ amplifier line is the amplification built to match. It is three Class D amps, two subwoofer monoblocks and a full-range four-channel, tuned to a sound-quality brief with clean filters and honest ratings.
One of the two monoblocks, matched to the driver. The SQ600.1D makes 600W at 1 ohm for a single IDQ or a modest IDMAX build, and the SQ1200.1D makes 1200W at 1 ohm for a hard-hitting IDMAX 10 or 12. Both are rated at 1 ohm and publish their 4 and 2 ohm figures. Match the amp's power at your wired impedance to the sub's RMS rating.
The SQ800.4. It is a full-range digital four-channel, 100W a channel at 4 ohm and 200W at 2 ohm, with a 10Hz to 30kHz bandwidth for horns, components or coaxials. It also bridges to 400W x 2 for a set of midbass or a small sub. It is the amp for an ID horn or component front stage.
Yes, all three. The SQ600.1D, SQ800.4 and SQ1200.1D are Class D, the SQ800.4 being a full-range digital design so it runs the front stage as well as the sub stage. Class D keeps them efficient and cool, and the SQ tuning keeps the filters and ratings honest.
That is what they are built for. The SQ monoblocks are sized to the IDQ and IDMAX lines: the SQ600.1D for an IDQ or a single modest IDMAX, the SQ1200.1D for a full IDMAX 10 or 12. Pairing an ID amp to an ID driver gets you a matched filter set and a rating you can trust against the driver's spec.
Sometimes. We occasionally list a previous-demo SQ600.1D at a reduced price when one comes back in. It is the same amplifier, checked over, at a discount. It sits outside the new-unit lineup above, so ask us directly if you want one and we will tell you what is in stock.
Yes. Every new Image Dynamics amplifier is brand new, sold by an authorized dealer, and carries the full manufacturer warranty. Demo units are sold as such and we tell you the terms up front. We handle warranty claims directly with the brand.
