Wavtech thinPRO Series
Less than 3 inches of mounting depth. 54mm of peak-to-peak excursion. 750 watts RMS. The patent-pending thinPRO10 fits where even compact 8 inch drivers cannot, with a 4.5 inch voice coil, dual-gap double-stacked motor, and a 0.35 cubic foot sealed enclosure small enough to hide almost anywhere.
The thinPRO10 and thinPRO12 share the same power rating, excursion capability, and motor architecture. What separates them is cone area and, more importantly for installation purposes, enclosure requirement. The thinPRO12 optimum sealed volume is 0.60 cubic feet. The thinPRO10 optimum is 0.35 cubic feet. That difference is what determines which driver belongs in an under-seat build with minimal footprint, which locations can accommodate a behind-panel installation, and which vehicles have no reasonable path to 0.60 cubic feet but can fit 0.35.
The 0.35 cubic foot preferred enclosure for the thinPRO10 has external dimensions of 18 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 5 inches tall. That is a box that disappears under a rear seat, behind a rear panel, or into a cargo corner that would not accept a 12 inch driver at any depth. And it delivers 750 watts RMS, 20mm Xmax, and 54mm of peak-to-peak travel from 2.875 inches of mounting depth.
The thinPRO10 uses the same FEA-optimized dual-gap motor structure with double-stacked strontium magnets as the thinPRO12, scaled for a 10 inch cone. The 4.5 inch voice coil (versus 5 inch on the thinPRO12) carries 4 layers of high-temperature winding on a vented polyimide composite former. The dual internal mirrored NBR spiders and reinforced axial force transfer assembly produce the same 54mm of peak-to-peak mechanical excursion from 2.875 inches of mounting depth, which is 0.125 inches shallower than the thinPRO12.
No rear clearance is required. The reverse-mountable gasket and trim ring provide installation flexibility for applications where every millimeter of clearance matters. A protective grille is included with the thinPRO10, not sold separately as with the thinPRO12.
The composite honeycomb cone construction is identical in design to the thinPRO12: Nomex honeycomb core with glass fiber skins providing high stiffness and low mass. The 10 inch cone has 341.76 cm2 of piston area versus 510.7 cm2 on the thinPRO12. Where the thinPRO12 cone needs more structural management to avoid breakup at high excursion, the thinPRO10 cone's smaller area makes the composite structure even more effective per unit of applied motor force.
With Fs at 31 Hz (thinPRO10-2) and 32 Hz (thinPRO10-4), and Vas at only 17L, the thinPRO10 is specifically designed for small enclosures. The small Vas means the sealed box alignment is dominated by the enclosure stiffness from smaller volumes, reaching near-Butterworth response in the 0.35 cubic foot preferred alignment. In the preferred 0.60 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 34 Hz, F3 reaches 29 Hz. Complete cut lists for both preferred enclosures are published in the thinPRO10 owner's manual.
Both share 750W RMS, 20mm Xmax, 54mm peak-to-peak excursion, dual-gap double-stacked motor, and the same patent-pending spider design. The thinPRO10 is 0.125 inches shallower (2.875 vs 3.0 inches), needs 0.25 cubic feet less enclosure (0.35 vs 0.60 cu ft sealed optimum), has less cone area, and includes a grille rather than selling it separately. Choose the thinPRO10 when enclosure volume or footprint is the primary constraint. Choose the thinPRO12 when you have the space and want more output.
The thinPRO10 is a single voice coil design available in two impedances. The thinPRO10-2 presents 2 ohms to the amplifier; the thinPRO10-4 presents 4 ohms. Two thinPRO10-2 in parallel presents 1 ohm; two thinPRO10-4 in parallel presents 2 ohms. Choose based on your amplifier's preferred load and your system configuration.

Using Wavtech's published Thiele-Small parameters from the thinPRO10 owner's manual, here are the predicted Qtc, system resonance (Fc), and F3 rolloff for both variants across three sealed volumes. Calculated values match Wavtech's published enclosure data: at the recommended 0.35 cu ft optimum, the thinPRO10-2 produces F3 at 42-43 Hz and the thinPRO10-4 at 45 Hz, consistent with the manual's published figures.
The thinPRO10's smaller Vas (17L) compared to the thinPRO12 (42L) means it needs less enclosure volume to achieve the same Qtc. The recommended 0.35 cu ft sealed box is genuinely compact, approximately 18 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 5 inches external height, small enough to fit almost anywhere a standard 10 inch driver can reach.

Ported alignment: Wavtech's preferred 0.60 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 34 Hz reaches F3 at 29 Hz for both variants. Minimum port area is 12.5 sq in (4 inch round equivalent). A subsonic filter at or below 34 Hz is required. The preferred ported enclosure external dimensions are 14.5 in H x 28.5 in W x 4 in D. Complete cut lists for both the 0.35 cu ft sealed and 0.60 cu ft ported enclosures are in the thinPRO10 owner's manual. Run your own sealed numbers in the Sealed Box Calculator.
