Eton Speakers
For Ford truck owners who use their under-seat area for storage, tools, or hunting gear, the "Behind Seat" subwoofer solution is the ultimate stealth upgrade. This collection covers the spectrum of modern Ford trucks, from the aluminum-body 2015-2023 F-150s and 2017+ Super Dutys (F-250/F-350) to the redesigned 2024+ F-150. These enclosures are precision-engineered to nest into the rear cabin wall, replacing the factory amplifier/subwoofer (if equipped) or the tire jack kit to deliver premium low-end response.
Navigating Ford Generations: Fitment Matters
The most critical factor in choosing your enclosure is the model year, as the rear wall architecture has shifted.
2015-2023 F-150 & 2017-2024 Super Duty: These trucks share a very similar cabin structure. The space is tight but manageable. Enclosures like the Alpine RSW10D4 or the Dual JL Audio 10TW3 setup are designed to fit here, often requiring the removal of the rear wall carpet padding to gain the necessary depth.
2024-2025 F-150: Ford redesigned the rear wall for this refresh, moving modules and changing the floor topography. Older boxes will not fit correctly. For these trucks, you must use a generation-specific enclosure like the Kicker CompRT designed specifically to contour around the new obstruction layout.
Technical Features: High-Excursion Shallow Drivers
Fitting a subwoofer behind a seat requires drivers that are physically shallow but acoustically deep.
Alpine R-Series Shallow (RSW10D4): Alpine’s "R-Series" is famous for output. Their shallow version maintains that reputation by using a unique spider and motor design that allows for 20mm of excursion in a box only a few inches deep. It delivers a heavy, resonant bass.
JL Audio TW3 Technology: The TW3 is widely considered the best sounding shallow woofer on the market. By compressing the mounting depth (3.25") via a concentric tube structure, JL Audio achieves the fidelity of a full-sized W3 woofer. In a Dual Configuration, this setup offers the highest output potential, moving significant air despite the tight quarters.
Installation Advice
Modification Requirements: To fit these boxes, you almost always need to relocate the factory jack. For the larger Dual 10" setups or the Alpine box, you will likely need to cut away the jute padding behind the factory carpet (or remove the carpet entirely on the back wall) to ensure the seat latches lock securely.
Amplifier Placement: Since the box takes up the rear wall space, amplifiers are typically mounted under the front seats or on a custom rack next to the enclosure if space permits.
