Q: Which trucks does this fit?

The 2015 to 2023 Ford F-150 and the 2017 to 2023 Ford F-250. Ford changed the platform for 2024 and the enclosures are not interchangeable, so a 2024 or later truck needs our 2024 to 2026 build instead. Check your model year before ordering. It is the most common mistake on this line.

Q: Do I lose seat travel or storage?

No. The enclosure is cut for this specific cab rather than adapted to it, so it sits behind the rear bench without fouling the seat or the factory under seat storage. That is the whole reason a vehicle specific build exists. A universal box in the same space either does not fit or costs you something.

Q: Do I need an amplifier, and how much power?

Yes. This is a passive enclosure with no amplification built in. Target 300 to 400 watts RMS at your final impedance. The CompRT 10 is a dual 4 ohm driver, so parallel gives 2 ohms and series gives 8. Most truck builds run 2 ohms into a compact Class D monoblock. If you are keeping the factory head unit you will also need a line output converter or a DSP with speaker level inputs.

Q: Why only 0.50 cubic feet?

It is inside Kicker's published 0.4 to 1.25 cubic foot sealed range for the CompRT 10, and it suits a truck cab specifically. A cab is small, sealed and heavily reinforced, so cabin gain below 80 Hz is stronger there than in almost any other vehicle. A larger box chasing deeper extension usually just produces boom you have to EQ back out. Tighter gives you control and lets the cab do the low end work.

Q: Where do I put the amplifier?

Plan this before the box goes in. The enclosure fills the behind seat space by design, which is where most people were intending to put the amp. A compact Class D monoblock will usually fit under a front seat or against the rear wall beside the enclosure. Route and test your power and signal runs before final placement, because lifting the box back out to fish a wire is not a two minute job.

Q: Will the CompRT handle a truck cab environment?

That is what it was designed for. Both cone and surround are UV resistant, and Kicker's Forced-Air Cooling runs the motor around 20 percent cooler than their previous generation. A cab bakes in summer and freezes in winter, and heat is what kills subwoofers. This driver was built with that in mind rather than adapted to it.

Q: What is the warranty on this system?

The enclosure carries a 2 year limited warranty on craftsmanship and materials, which is the standard across the Vehicle Specific line. The Kicker CompRT 10 carries its own manufacturer warranty separately, handled through Kicker.

Q: Is there a higher output version for the same space?

Yes. We build a PR Edition for the same cab that uses a passive radiator to extend the low end further without needing port length the space does not allow, and a dual 10 version for the same platform if you want more cone area. We also build this cab with the JL Audio 10TW3 and the Alpine RS-W10D4 if you prefer a different driver.

INSTALLER'S TAKE

Check your year before anything else. This fits the 2015 to 2023 F-150 and the 2017 to 2023 F-250. Ford changed the platform for 2024 and the boxes are not interchangeable, so a 2024 truck needs the other build. It is the single most common ordering mistake on this line and it costs a return shipping both ways.

Plan the amplifier location before you set the box. The enclosure fills the behind seat space by design, which is exactly where most people intend to put the amp. A compact Class D monoblock will usually go under a front seat or against the rear wall beside the enclosure, but decide that first rather than discovering it with the box already in.

Run your power and signal before final placement as well. Once the enclosure is seated behind the bench it is not a two minute job to lift it back out to fish a wire. Route, test, then set it and secure it.

Built Around the Kicker CompRT 10

Nothing about this box is generic. Every layer is cut to the CompRT 10's published sealed target, with the baffle bored to the CompRT 10's 9.125 in cutout with 8/32 threaded inserts set on the back face, and clearance cut for its 3.4375 in mounting depth.

The CompRT 10 carries a published Fs of 28.7 Hz, Qts of 0.486 and Vas of 35.36 litres, and an EBP of 57, which puts it in transition enclosure territory. We ran the alignment math on that data and built the box to land where it belongs.

Net Volume, Not Gross

We build this cabinet at 0.50 cubic feet net, against a published recommendation of 0.4 to 1.25 cu ft. The volume quoted is true net internal airspace, measured after the walls, bracing and driver displacement are accounted for.

True net, not marketing net. Internal volume is calculated by summing each CNC cut layer's opening, not estimated from external dimensions minus wall thickness.

Proline X Vehicle Specific Series Construction

This enclosure is stack fabricated on our ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF, a dense 48.5 lb/ft³ board with a 200 psi internal bond and 410,000 psi MOE. Each layer is cut to the cab profile and the stack does the joining. Dowel reinforcement runs between layers as tension hardware only, which is what lets the shell follow a behind seat contour without a corner joint in it.

Threaded Inserts, Not Wood Screws

8/32 threaded inserts are set on the backside of the baffle so the driver mounts on machine screws. Pull it a dozen times and the threads are still there.

Pre-Wired Terminal Cup

Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite cup with stainless hardware and copper ring terminals, pre-wired internally with 12 gauge OFC. No CCA anywhere in the build.

Damped and Finished

Woofer Details

The Kicker CompRT 10 is built for exactly this kind of install. At a 3-7/16 inch mounting depth it goes behind a rear bench or under a seat where a conventional 10 will not, and unlike a lot of shallow mount drivers it does not achieve that by shrinking the motor and accepting less output. It is rated at 400 watts RMS and 800 watts peak with dual 4 ohm voice coils, and Kicker's Forced-Air Cooling system runs the motor around 20 percent cooler than their previous generation. The cone is injection moulded polypropylene using Kicker's SoloKon design, bonded to an improved Santoprene surround with the signature red double stitching. Both cone and surround are UV resistant, which matters more than it sounds in a truck cab that bakes in summer and freezes in winter. Sensitivity is 84.8 dB, and Kicker specifies a sealed enclosure between 0.4 and 1.25 cubic feet.

Kicker CompRT 10 in a Proline X 0.50 Cubic Foot Direct Fit Ford Enclosure

Kicker publishes a sealed range of 0.4 to 1.25 cubic feet for the CompRT 10. This cabinet is 0.50, near the bottom of that range, and that is not a compromise forced by the truck. It is the alignment that suits a cab.

A truck cab is a small, sealed, heavily reinforced space. Cabin gain below 80 Hz is stronger there than in almost any other vehicle, which means a larger box chasing deeper anechoic extension usually just produces boom you then have to EQ back out. A tighter sealed volume raises system Qtc, tightens transient control, and lets the cab do the low end work it was always going to do anyway.

Every Proline X Performance Series enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF, 3/4" (18mm) panels produced to published mill specifications. Most enclosure manufacturers source generic MDF without published data. We can tell you the internal bond rating, the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rupture, and the face and edge screw holding strength for every panel in this enclosure, because we chose the material based on those numbers, not on price or availability.

Langboard Elite is produced in the United States. The specifications below are pulled directly from Langboard's published mill data and are verifiable. This is the same panel stock used in our full Proline X lineup.

Internal Bond

200 psi: The Number That Actually Matters for Enclosures

The internal bond rating measures how well the MDF panel resists delamination under sustained pressure applied perpendicular to the face. In a subwoofer enclosure, every bass transient generates a pressure pulse that pushes outward on every panel simultaneously. A panel that begins to delaminate internally loses stiffness gradually. The symptoms are slow: a box that starts to sound softer, less defined, less punchy over months of use. 200 psi internal bond is the spec that determines how long this enclosure holds its acoustic integrity under daily use at real power levels.

Stiffness

410,000 psi MOE: Less Flex, Less Resonance

The modulus of elasticity measures panel stiffness, its resistance to bending under load. A stiffer panel flexes less under the pressure generated by a high-excursion driver at volume. Panel flex is a source of acoustic coloration: the panel itself begins to radiate sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the output. 410,000 psi stiffness combined with V-groove and dado joinery means the panels stay rigid and the bracing controls resonance at the structure level, not the panel level. The bass you hear comes from the driver, not the box.

Screw Holding

325 lb Face / 250 lb Edge: Joints That Stay Locked

Screw holding strength determines how firmly the panel grips a fastener at the face and at the edge. This matters most at the baffle joint, where the front panel meets the side panels and where the driver is mounted. A panel with low screw holding strength allows fasteners to loosen over time under vibration, leading to air gaps at the joint and loss of acoustic seal. 325 lb face screw holding strength means the baffle hardware stays put. Combined with dado joinery and adhesive, the front panel on a Proline X Performance Series enclosure is not going anywhere.

The phrase "premium MDF" or "high-density MDF" appears on marketing copy for enclosures across every price point, from $40 to $400. It is not a specification. It is a description with no defined standard. Langboard Elite is a named, sourced, mill-documented product with published data.
