Most monoblock amplifiers are rated for their peak at one impedance and lose output at others. The link1500.1plus was engineered around a different goal: identical 1500 watt RMS output at both 1 ohm and 2 ohms. It delivers 900 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms, and 1500 watts RMS at 1 ohm.
That consistency comes from Wavtech's dual rail voltage power supply. When you set the amplifier up, you select your subwoofer's impedance with the 4/2 or 1 ohm switch and the amplifier handles the rest, holding full output instead of sagging into a low-impedance load. At 13.11 by 6.5 by 1.65 inches, this is an unusually small footprint for a true 1500 watt RMS amplifier.
The link1500.1plus carries Wavtech's bassFREQ preamp, a complete bass management section built into the amplifier. It combines a variable low-pass crossover at 24dB per octave, a variable subsonic filter at 24dB per octave, and a fully adjustable parametric EQ. The crossover keeps the subwoofer focused on low frequencies, the subsonic filter protects the driver from over-excursion below its usable range, and the parametric EQ corrects cabin resonances and response peaks at a specific frequency rather than smearing the whole bottom end.
