Stereo Integrity

SQL 12 Series 2

12 Inch Sound Quality Loud Subwoofer | Sold Individually

1000W RMS 2.75 in Copper Voice Coil Dual 2 or Dual 4 Ohm Paper or Carbon Fiber Dust Cap Klippel Tested

Sound Quality Loud

The SQL 12 Series 2 is the 12 inch model in the Stereo Integrity SQL line, and the name is the design brief: Sound Quality Loud. Stereo Integrity developed it in Finite Element Analysis software and refined the coil and mass balance through several rounds of Klippel testing. The goal is a clean, accurate foundation for a sound quality system that can still deliver serious output when the music calls for it.

Stereo Integrity describes the SQL series as its best performance for the money. The SQL 12 works in a very small sealed enclosure or a small to medium ported enclosure, which makes it easy to fit into a daily driver without giving up the low end.

Inside the SQL 12

SGLC Overhung Motor

A 2.75 inch solid copper voice coil is wound on a split, black anodized aluminum former with a 50 mm winding height. A solid aluminum Faraday ring nested in the Y35 ferrite motor lowers inductance for quicker transient response.

Why a 2.75 Inch Coil

Stereo Integrity picked 2.75 inches as the balance point between common coil sizes. It carries less inductance than a 3 inch coil and more motor force than a 2.5 inch coil.

Dual Nomex Spiders

Large 8 3/8 inch dual Nomex spiders keep compliance uniform across the linear stroke and firm up near the excursion limit. Flat woven lead wires are stitched to the spider in a mirrored layout to prevent coil rocking.

Paper Cone, Tall Rubber Surround

A naturally dried, treated paper cone brings the mass that suits low frequency reproduction, and the tall roll rubber surround is matched to the spiders for a balanced suspension.

Enclosure and Power

Stereo Integrity rates the SQL 12 at 1000 watts RMS. For a sealed build it recommends 0.65 to 1.0 cubic feet. For a ported build it recommends 1.7 cubic feet tuned to 27 Hz with 22 square inches of port area. The driver displaces 0.15 cubic feet, so account for it when you calculate net volume.

Choosing Your Version

Pick the impedance that suits your amplifier. The dual 2 ohm version wires to 1 ohm in parallel or 4 ohms in series. The dual 4 ohm version wires to 2 ohms in parallel or 8 ohms in series.

The dust cap is available in paper or carbon fiber. Stereo Integrity publishes a single specification set for the SQL 12 and does not list separate figures for the carbon fiber cap.

Fitment

Cutout: 11.33 in. Outer diameter: 12.91 in. Mounting depth: 7 in. Displacement: 0.15 cu ft. Stereo Integrity lists 1.25 in from the baffle to the top of the surround and recommends at least 0.5 in of clearance above the surround to a grille.

Authorized Stereo Integrity Dealer

Audio Intensity is an authorized Stereo Integrity dealer, and we build enclosures around their drivers.
