Rockford Fosgate Punch P3S 10 Inch Shallow Subwoofer
300 watts RMS from 3.50 inches of mounting depth. The P3S 10 is Rockford Fosgate's shallow Punch woofer for trucks, under-seat builds and any cabinet that cannot swallow a full-depth motor. Choose the dual 2 ohm P3SD2-10 or the dual 4 ohm P3SD4-10 to suit your amplifier.

Built for Depth-Limited Installs
A conventional 10 inch woofer needs five to six inches behind the baffle. The P3S needs 3.50 inches, with a 9.06 inch cutout and only 0.074 cubic feet of driver displacement. That is the difference between a subwoofer that fits behind a truck seat or in a thin down-firing cabinet and one that does not fit at all.
The motor is short, but the moving assembly is still a Punch: an anodized aluminum cone and dust cap, an M-Roll Santoprene surround using Rockford's VAST attach method to recover cone area, a dual linear spider with stitched 16 AWG tinsel leads, and an anodized aluminum voice coil former that sheds heat under sustained power. The StampCast basket has integrated spider venting and FlexFit slotted mounting holes, and the diamond-cut cast aluminum trim ring accepts Rockford's optional P3SG-10 grille insert.
Dual 2 Ohm or Dual 4 Ohm
Both versions share the same basket, cone, power rating and mounting dimensions. The coil is what changes, and with it the final load your amplifier sees and the woofer's Q.
P3SD2-10 (Dual 2 Ohm): coils in parallel give 1 ohm, in series 4 ohm. Qts 0.64, Fs 40 Hz, Xmax 8.4 mm.
P3SD4-10 (Dual 4 Ohm): coils in parallel give 2 ohm, in series 8 ohm. Qts 0.78, Fs 42 Hz, Xmax 8.1 mm.
For one woofer on a mono amplifier that makes its power at 1 ohm, the D2 is the direct match. For a pair, two D4s wired to 2 ohm each and paralleled give 1 ohm, or wired to 8 ohm each and paralleled give 4 ohm. The D4's higher Qts also means it wants a slightly larger sealed box than the D2 to stay controlled, which the table below shows.
Sealed Enclosure Performance: Pre-Calculated Results
Rockford Fosgate recommends 0.5 cubic feet sealed and 1.0 cubic foot vented for both versions. These are the sealed results we calculate from Rockford's own published parameters, as system Q (Qtc) and anechoic F3, before cabin gain. Volumes are net, after the driver's displacement.

The D2 is well behaved across the whole range, from a tight 0.91 at Rockford's half cube to 0.79 at a full cube. The D4 at 0.5 cubic feet lands at Qtc 1.11, which sounds fuller but less controlled; give it 0.75 cubic feet or more and it settles near 1.0 with a lower F3 than the D2. Ported, both versions work at Rockford's 1.0 cubic foot recommendation.
Enclosures We Cut for the P3S 10
We build Proline X enclosures for this driver in Tullahoma, Tennessee, each one sized from these parameters with the 9.06 inch cutout and 3.50 inch mounting depth cut direct fit:
- Down fire sealed 10 inch enclosure: 0.92 cubic feet net, 6.875 inches tall, for either coil version.
- Down fire ported 10 inch enclosure: 1.27 cubic feet net tuned to 35 Hz, aligned for the P3SD4-10.
- Ported 10 inch wedge enclosure: 0.85 cubic feet net tuned to 36.5 Hz, aligned for the P3SD4-10.
