What You Are Buying
A pair of tweeters built to drop into the BMW 3 Series door tweeter location, with mounting geometry engineered for the factory pod rather than an adapter ring.
Discontinued line, remaining stock only, and we are not restocking it.
Read this before you buy
Final sale. No returns, no exchanges, no manufacturer warranty. Discontinued model with no replacement pipeline, so a failed tweeter cannot be matched.
Fitment
Rainbow lists three generations of 3 Series:
| Chassis codes | Years |
|---|---|
| E90, E91, E92, E93 | 2005 to 2013 |
| F30, F31, F34, F35 | 2012 to 2019 |
| G20, G21 | 2019 to present |
Chassis code is the specification, not the model year. The E90 and F30 generations overlap in 2012 and 2013, and BMW built both in the same calendar years. Check the code on your car rather than the badge year. If you are not sure, send us the VIN.
The Ceramic Dome
Ceramic composite is a stiffer diaphragm material than silk or aluminium. What stiffness buys in a tweeter is a first breakup mode pushed above the audible band, so the dome behaves as a piston across everything you can hear rather than flexing at the top of its range.
The trade is that a stiff dome is unforgiving. When it does misbehave it does so abruptly, and it will show you exactly how compressed your source material is. Ceramic also has better thermal stability than a soft dome, which matters on a tweeter sitting in a door pod that bakes in the sun.
The practical character: detailed and open, with wide dispersion. If your current complaint is that the top end sounds veiled, this is the direction that fixes it. If your complaint is that it sounds harsh, it is not.
These are tweeters, not a full speaker set
The set replaces the factory tweeters only. Your door woofers stay where they are. That makes this a targeted upgrade rather than a system change, and whether it works depends on your existing midbass being worth keeping.
What Rainbow Did Not Publish
There is no published power handling, sensitivity, impedance, resonance frequency or recommended crossover point for this model in the material we have. On a tweeter, the crossover point is the specification that matters most, so this is a real gap. We are not going to invent one. If you are integrating these into an active system, ask us and we will check what is documented on the packaging before it ships.
Who This Suits
Buy these if
- You own a 3 Series in one of the listed chassis codes.
- Your door midbass is fine and the top end is what disappoints you.
- You want a factory-location fit with no fabrication.
- You accept a final sale on a discontinued product with no warranty path.
Look elsewhere if
- Your car is not one of the listed chassis codes.
- Your source material is heavily compressed. A ceramic dome will not flatter it.
- You are rebuilding the whole front stage; buy a matched component set instead.
- You need a published crossover point before you commit.
Installation
- Confirm your chassis code before ordering. The badge year is not enough.
- If you are running passive off the factory system, the factory crossover stays in circuit. If you are running active, do not cross a tweeter low without knowing its resonance frequency, and ask us first.
- Check polarity on both sides. A tweeter wired out of phase on one side is easy to do and shows up as a vague, wandering centre image rather than as an obvious fault.
- Seat them properly in the factory pod. A tweeter rattling in its housing undoes the entire upgrade.
Condition and sale terms
Closeout stock from a discontinued Rainbow line. Sold as a final sale with no returns, no exchanges and no manufacturer warranty. Packaging may show shelf wear from storage. Power handling, sensitivity, impedance, resonance frequency and recommended crossover point are not published by the manufacturer for this model and are not stated here. Fitment must be confirmed by chassis code before purchase. Once remaining stock is gone this listing will be removed.
