The NVX VCW15v3 in a Purpose-Built Sealed Wedge
The VC-Series v3 15 is a 1500 watt RMS, 3000 watt peak driver on a 202 ounce triple-stacked Y35 ferrite motor, with a 3 inch four-layer high-temperature aluminum voice coil and a carbon-fiber-enhanced non-pressed paper cone. Xmax is 23 mm one-way. Cone area is 124.65 square inches, which is where a 15 earns its keep: it moves the same air as a 12 at roughly two thirds the excursion, so it stays inside its linear range on program material that would have a smaller driver working hard.
It ships in two coil configurations. The VCW152v3 is dual 2 ohm, the VCW154v3 is dual 4 ohm. Both share the same frame, cone, motor and mounting geometry, so this enclosure fits either one.
2.15 cu ft gross internal volume produces 2.0 cu ft net after driver displacement. That is the sealed volume NVX specifies for this driver. The wedge geometry mounts the woofer on the vertical trunk-lid-side face, firing rearward into the trunk cavity for optimum cabin loading.
Trunk-Load Wedge Design Explained
This wedge is not a front-firing enclosure. The woofer is mounted on the vertical face that sits at the back of the box, closest to the trunk lid, and fires rearward into the trunk cavity. The angled face is on the opposite side, the side that faces the front of the vehicle, and tucks against the rear seat back.
Seat-Side Face Matches Seat Lean
Most factory rear seat backs lean roughly 20 degrees back from vertical. This cabinet runs 8.75" deep at the top and 15.3" at the bottom over 18" of height, a 20.0 degree rake that matches that lean and tucks against the seat back with no wasted gap.
Trunk-Lid-Side Face Fires the Woofer
The vertical face on the opposite side is where the VCW15v3 mounts. The cone fires rearward toward the trunk lid, using the trunk cavity as an acoustic loading chamber. Classic SQ trunk-load install pattern.
Trunk Cavity Loading
Firing the woofer into the trunk cavity uses the trunk itself as an extension of the acoustic system. Low frequencies transmit into the passenger cabin through the rear deck, seat back, and cabin boundaries, a smoother, less localized presentation than direct-firing setups.
Preserves Trunk Cargo Space
The wedge tucks against the seat back where cargo can't be stored anyway. The bottom face sits flat and stable on the trunk floor. Cargo space in front stays usable for daily driving.
Engineered for the NVX VCW15v3
NVX specifies 2 cubic feet sealed for this driver, and this cabinet delivers 2.0 net rather than 2.0 gross. A box built to 2.0 gross gives the driver 1.85 after displacement and lands system Q at 0.78. Built to 2.0 net it lands at 0.76. Both are usable, but 0.76 is the flatter of the two and it is the one NVX's stated volume actually describes. That is the band between maximally flat and lightly punchy: a small amount of midbass weight, no overhang. Opening the box out to 2.6 cubic feet drops Q to 0.70, maximally flat, at the cost of midbass authority a 15 has no reason to give up. Coming down to 1.44 pushes Q to 0.85 and starts putting a bump at resonance.
Alignment Numbers
Target System Qtc: 0.76, the same for both coil variants. The two coils differ slightly in free-air resonance, so the corner differs with them. VCW152v3 at Fs 29.30 Hz: Fc 49.5 Hz, F3 46.3 Hz anechoic. VCW154v3 at Fs 31.30 Hz: Fc 52.8 Hz, F3 49.4 Hz anechoic. In a sealed trunk-load install, cabin gain typically adds usable output an octave below the anechoic F3.
Mounting Geometry
The vertical trunk-lid-side baffle is CNC-cut to 14.25". NVX lists 14.125" in the VC-Series v3 manual and 14.21" on the product listing, so we cut to a figure that clears both and still leaves a quarter inch of flange bearing against the driver's 14.78" mounting diameter. Mounting depth required is 8.19", and at the cutout centerline the cabinet gives 10.53" of internal depth behind the 1.5" baffle, so there is roughly 2.3" behind the motor once the wedge taper is accounted for. 8/32 threaded inserts are pressed into the baffle backside for secure driver retention.
Performance Series Construction, Driver-Specific Tuning
Langboard Elite MDF
Premium 3/4" MDF panels milled to documented spec, denser and more dimensionally stable than commodity MDF. Less panel resonance, tighter joints, longer service life under daily use.
V-Groove and Dado Joinery
CNC-cut V-grooves at every panel intersection let the wedge cabinet fold into its angled shape with maximum glue surface. Dado joints lock the vertical woofer baffle and angled seat-side panel into the side walls.
Double-Layer 1.5" Front Baffle
Two bonded 3/4" MDF sheets at the driver mounting face. A 1500 watt RMS motor with 23 mm of one-way travel puts real reaction force into the baffle, and a 14.25" hole in a single 3/4" sheet is not enough material to hold it still. Eliminates flex and gives the motor a rigid, isolated mounting platform.
Side-Mounted Pre-Wired Terminal Cup
Proline X ABS/carbon-fiber composite terminal cup, side mounted per PO Series standard, with 12 gauge OFC pre-wired to the driver position. 3D-printed in-house on Bambu Lab H2S printers. 8/32 threaded inserts installed for secure driver retention.

Wiring the NVX VCW15v3 to Your Amplifier
The VCW152v3 is dual 2 ohm. Series wiring gives 4 ohms, parallel gives 1 ohm. Run it in series at 4 ohms unless your amplifier is genuinely rated 1 ohm stable, because a lot of amps that advertise 1 ohm operation are rated for it in mono at a duty cycle no one actually runs. The VCW154v3 is dual 4 ohm and is the easier load: series gives 8 ohms, parallel gives 2 ohms, and 2 ohms is where most monoblocks make their rated power without complaint.
Target 1050 to 1500 watts RMS at your final wired impedance against the driver's 1500 watt continuous rating. Set gains by ear or with an oscilloscope at the level you actually listen, not at the level the amp will make. With 23 mm of one-way travel this driver will take mechanical abuse long after the coil stops appreciating it, so the failure mode here is thermal, not mechanical.

Built From a Spec Sheet, Not a Sales Sheet
Every Proline X Performance Series enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF, 3/4" (18mm) panels produced to published mill specifications. Most enclosure manufacturers source generic MDF without published data. We can tell you the internal bond rating, the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rupture, and the face and edge screw holding strength for every panel in this enclosure, because we chose the material based on those numbers, not on price or availability.
Langboard Elite is produced in the United States. The specifications below are pulled directly from Langboard's published mill data and are verifiable. This is the same panel stock used in our full Proline X lineup.

200 psi: The Number That Actually Matters for Enclosures
The internal bond rating measures how well the MDF panel resists delamination under sustained pressure applied perpendicular to the face. In a subwoofer enclosure, every bass transient generates a pressure pulse that pushes outward on every panel simultaneously. A panel that begins to delaminate internally loses stiffness gradually. The symptoms are slow: a box that starts to sound softer, less defined, less punchy over months of use. 200 psi internal bond is the spec that determines how long this enclosure holds its acoustic integrity under daily use at real power levels.
410,000 psi MOE: Less Flex, Less Resonance
The modulus of elasticity measures panel stiffness, its resistance to bending under load. A stiffer panel flexes less under the pressure generated by a high-excursion driver at volume. Panel flex is a source of acoustic coloration: the panel itself begins to radiate sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the output. 410,000 psi stiffness combined with V-groove and dado joinery means the panels stay rigid and the bracing controls resonance at the structure level, not the panel level. The bass you hear comes from the driver, not the box.
325 lb Face / 250 lb Edge: Joints That Stay Locked
Screw holding strength determines how firmly the panel grips a fastener at the face and at the edge. This matters most at the baffle joint, where the front panel meets the side panels and where the driver is mounted. A panel with low screw holding strength allows fasteners to loosen over time under vibration, leading to air gaps at the joint and loss of acoustic seal. 325 lb face screw holding strength means the baffle hardware stays put. Combined with dado joinery and adhesive, the front panel on a Proline X Performance Series enclosure is not going anywhere.
Named Panel Stock: Not "Premium MDF"
The phrase "premium MDF" or "high-density MDF" appears on marketing copy for enclosures across every price point, from $40 to $400. It is not a specification. It is a description with no defined standard. Langboard Elite is a named, sourced, mill-documented product with published data. We name it in our copy because naming it holds us accountable to the spec. You can look up Langboard Elite independently, verify the numbers on this page, and confirm you are getting what we say you are getting. That is the point.
