INSTALLER'S TAKE

The IDQ12 V4 has been on my short list of SQ twelves for years, and a pair of them in the right sealed box is one of my favorite bass stages, period. The operative phrase is "the right box." The IDQ rewards correct airspace more than almost any driver I work with, which is exactly why we cut this enclosure around its published parameters instead of selling you a generic dual 12.

The 2.8 cubic foot common chamber puts each driver in roughly 1.4 cubic feet, the extended end of the IDQ12's sealed window. Compared to the tighter 1.0 alignment, you give up a hair of punch and gain real extension, and with two 12s sharing the work, excursion per driver stays low and the bass stays effortless. With an EBP of 40, this driver was never going in a ported box anyway; sealed is its home and this is the airspace.

Build details matter at this level. The threaded inserts match the IDQ's bolt pattern, so the drivers torque down properly and come back out cleanly when you want to show off that field-replaceable cone system. The terminal cup is pre-wired in 12-gauge OFC to both positions, so your only job is landing the amp leads and deciding on final impedance: a pair of Dual 2-ohm drivers lands at 2 ohms, a pair of Dual 4-ohm drivers gives you 1 ohm or 4.

Power-wise, this stage wants 1000 clean watts. A Wavtech link1000.1mini on a 2-ohm pair is a tidy match, and the link1500.1plus covers a 1-ohm Dual 4 configuration with headroom. Feed it clean power, keep the gains honest, and a dual IDQ12 sealed stage will blend into a front stage like it is not even back there. That is the whole point.

Dual Sealed 12" Enclosure | Image Dynamics IDQ12 V4

Two IDQ12 V4 subwoofers. One precision airspace. This driver-specific sealed enclosure is CNC-cut around the IDQ12's published parameters, so a pair of the most musical 12s in car audio gets exactly the box they were engineered for.

Driver-Specific CNC-Cut in Tennessee Pre-Wired 1-Year Warranty

Engineered Around the IDQ12 V4

The Image Dynamics IDQ12 V4 is a sealed-box subwoofer by design, with an EBP of 40 that tells you exactly where it belongs. This enclosure gives a pair of them the airspace Image Dynamics' parameters call for: approximately 2.8 cubic feet of net internal volume in a shared common chamber, roughly 1.4 cubic feet per driver after displacement. That sits in the extended range of the IDQ12's sealed window, trading a touch of box punch for deeper extension while preserving the transient accuracy that wins sound quality lanes.

The baffle is cut for the IDQ12 V4's 10.87 inch cutout on both positions, and the 15 inch depth swallows the driver's 5.91 inch mounting depth with room to breathe. Polyfill comes pre-installed, so the enclosure performs as modeled the day it arrives.

Performance Optimized Construction

Every Performance Optimized enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF on our ShopSabre routers in Tullahoma, Tennessee, with precision V-groove and dado joinery for panel alignment and long-term sealed integrity. The baffle carries 8/32 threaded inserts matched to the IDQ12 V4's published mounting pattern, with stainless steel machine screws included, so the drivers bolt down with real hardware instead of wood screws.

Connections run through the Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite terminal cup with stainless hardware and copper ring terminals, pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC to both driver positions. Drop the subs in, land two wires at the cup, and the install is done.

This is the same driver-specific approach as our Professional Series: airspace, cutouts, and hardware locked to one driver, the Image Dynamics IDQ12 V4, rather than averaged across a class of 12s.

Finish It Your Way

The enclosure comes wrapped in Dark Gray Trunkliner as standard, with Plush Black carpet available as an upgrade. The front baffle accepts a colored acrylic insert in Black, Blue, Red, or White to match the build, or can be ordered without the insert for a clean, blacked-out face at a reduced price.

Order the box on its own if you already have your drivers, or bundle it with a matched pair of IDQ12 V4 subwoofers in Dual 2-ohm or Dual 4-ohm, and we ship everything together. A pair of Dual 2-ohm drivers wires to a 2-ohm final load; a pair of Dual 4-ohm drivers wires to 1 ohm or 4 ohms.

Built From a Spec Sheet, Not a Sales Sheet

Every Proline X Performance Series enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF — 3/4" (18mm) panels produced to published mill specifications. Most enclosure manufacturers source generic MDF without published data. We can tell you the internal bond rating, the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rupture, and the face and edge screw holding strength for every panel in this enclosure — because we chose the material based on those numbers, not on price or availability.

Langboard Elite is produced in the United States. The specifications below are pulled directly from Langboard's published mill data and are verifiable. This is the same panel stock used in our full Proline X lineup.

Specifications

Langboard Elite MDF — Published Mill Data

Property Value Why It Matters
Panel Stock Langboard Elite MDF Named, verifiable panel source — not generic "high-density MDF"
Thickness 3/4" (18mm) Industry standard for subwoofer enclosures; panels below this flex under pressure
Density 48.5 lbs/ft³ Higher density = less porosity, better screw retention, reduced resonance
Internal Bond 200 psi Measures resistance to delamination under sustained internal pressure — the most enclosure-relevant spec on this sheet
Modulus of Rupture (MOR) 4,200 psi Bending strength before the panel breaks — relevant for larger unsupported baffle spans
Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) 410,000 psi Stiffness under load; higher MOE means less panel flex under bass pressure, less resonance
Face Screw Holding 325 lbs How firmly the panel surface holds a screw; critical for baffle joint integrity over time
Edge Screw Holding 250 lbs Panel edge retention — relevant for every joint that isn't face-to-face
Internal Bond

200 psi — The Number That Actually Matters for Enclosures

The internal bond rating measures how well the MDF panel resists delamination under sustained pressure applied perpendicular to the face. In a subwoofer enclosure, every bass transient generates a pressure pulse that pushes outward on every panel simultaneously. A panel that begins to delaminate internally loses stiffness gradually — the symptoms are slow: a box that starts to sound softer, less defined, less punchy over months of use. 200 psi internal bond is the spec that determines how long this enclosure holds its acoustic integrity under daily use at real power levels.

Stiffness

410,000 psi MOE — Less Flex, Less Resonance

The modulus of elasticity measures panel stiffness — resistance to bending under load. A stiffer panel flexes less under the pressure generated by a high-excursion driver at volume. Panel flex is a source of acoustic coloration: the panel itself begins to radiate sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the output. 410,000 psi stiffness combined with V-groove and dado joinery means the panels stay rigid and the bracing controls resonance at the structure level — not the panel level. The bass you hear comes from the driver, not the box.

Screw Holding

325 lb Face / 250 lb Edge — Joints That Stay Locked

Screw holding strength determines how firmly the panel grips a fastener at the face and at the edge. This matters most at the baffle joint — where the front panel meets the side panels and where the driver is mounted. A panel with low screw holding strength allows fasteners to loosen over time under vibration, leading to air gaps at the joint and loss of acoustic seal. 325 lb face screw holding strength means the baffle hardware stays put. Combined with dado joinery and adhesive, the front panel on a Proline X Performance Series enclosure is not going anywhere.

Sourcing

Named Panel Stock — Not "Premium MDF"

The phrase "premium MDF" or "high-density MDF" appears on marketing copy for enclosures across every price point, from $40 to $400. It is not a specification — it is a description with no defined standard. Langboard Elite is a named, sourced, mill-documented product with published data. We name it in our copy because naming it holds us accountable to the spec. You can look up Langboard Elite independently, verify the numbers on this page, and confirm you are getting what we say you are getting. That is the point.

Why Proline X?

Most enclosures are built to a price point. Proline X is built to a spec. Every box starts with published-data MDF, gets CNC-cut to exact internal volume, and is assembled by hand in our Tennessee facility. The difference shows up in the measurements — and in how the box holds up two years into daily use.
