INSTALLER'S TAKE

Read the two parameter sets before you order, because SI build the HS-24 two ways and they are not the same driver on paper. The standard version uses a foam surround and measures Fs 16.2 Hz with a Qts of 0.47. The accordion version uses cloth and measures 23.1 Hz with a Qts of 0.55. The standard digs deeper, the accordion is the tighter of the two.

The 8 cubic foot sealed recommendation sounds enormous until you do the arithmetic. A 28 inch cube is 12.7 cubic feet, so 8 is comfortably under that, and for a 24 inch cone with 40 mm of one way travel it is a genuinely compact enclosure.

Plan the structure before the driver arrives. 12.75 inches of mounting depth, a 22.375 inch cutout, and 95 pounds of driver hanging off a baffle. That baffle has to be built for the weight, not just cut for the hole, and the bracing behind it matters more than it does on any 12 you have built.

HS-24

24 Inch Subwoofer | Sold Individually

3000W RMS 40 mm One-Way Xmax 8 cu ft Sealed Dual 1 or Dual 2 Ohm Standard or Accordion Surround

Full Bandwidth Bass From One Driver

The HS-24 is the Stereo Integrity 24 inch subwoofer, built to combine high fidelity, serious output, and a manageable enclosure in a single driver. Stereo Integrity designed every part with FEA simulation and CAD, then verified the finished driver on a Klippel system. It is aimed at low frequency effects and ultra-low frequency playback, with a bandwidth potential that Stereo Integrity puts at 5 Hz to 1000 Hz.

Stereo Integrity says the HS-24 keeps the precision of a 10 or 12 inch subwoofer despite its size, and its large linear displacement lets it play full bandwidth down into the single digits.

Engineering Highlights

High-Bl Ferrite Motor

A 10 inch diameter, quad-stacked Y35 ferrite motor provides the force to control a cone this large in a compact enclosure.

Three Shorting Rings

Three internal shorting rings control and linearize inductance across the long stroke, which keeps the bass accurate and tight.

Bifilar Copper Coil

Bifilar copper voice coil windings reduce inductance further, supporting 40 mm of one-way linear excursion and more than 120 mm of peak-to-peak stroke.

Carbon Fiber Sandwich Cone

The carbon fiber and Kevlar sandwich cone rides on a 3 layer, 10 inch Nomex spider in a cast aluminum basket, with large 4 AWG spring-loaded terminals.

Enclosure and Power

Stereo Integrity rates the HS-24 at 3000 watts RMS. The driver reaches a 0.707 alignment in an 8 cubic foot sealed enclosure, which Stereo Integrity notes is smaller than a 28 inch cube. For a vented build it recommends 20 cubic feet, and the specification sheet lists the tuning for each surround option in the table below.

Surround options: The standard version uses a foam surround and lists an Fs of 16.2 Hz with a Qts of 0.47. The accordion version uses a cloth surround and lists 23.1 Hz with a Qts of 0.55. Both are rated for 40 mm of one-way excursion.

Choosing Your Version

The HS-24 comes in dual 1 ohm and dual 2 ohm. Dual 1 ohm coils wire to 0.5 ohm in parallel or 2 ohms in series, and dual 2 ohm coils wire to 1 ohm in parallel or 4 ohms in series. Pick the surround and impedance together, since the two surround options carry different parameters.

Fitment and Ordering

Cutout: 22.375 in. Outer diameter: 24.35 in. Mounting depth: 12.75 in. Displacement: 0.45 cu ft. Driver weight: 95 lb.
