INSTALLER'S TAKE

Read the impedance line before anything else. The GT2 2010 is a single 3 ohm nominal coil at 2.8 ohm DCR. Two of them in this box wire to 1.5 ohms in parallel or 6 ohms in series. There is no 2 ohm or 4 ohm option, because the driver does not have one. If your amplifier is 1 ohm stable, go parallel and give it 800 to 1000 watts. If it is not, go series at 6 ohms and accept roughly half the amp's rated output. Settle that before the box ships, not after.

On the alignment. This is 1.2 cubic feet net for two drivers, which is 0.6 each, and that puts Qtc right at 1.05. It is a punchy box with a small lift in the upper 40s and an F3 of 36 Hz on the bench. Down firing into a trunk floor with cabin gain underneath it, that lift is exactly what makes the system feel like it hits above its size. I am not going to tell you it is a flat SQ alignment, because it is not, and the GT2's 0.61 Qts means no box that fits in a car would be.

The 8.5 inch height is the whole point. That clears the rear deck line on most full size sedans and sits under most cargo covers. Add the feet and you are at 10.25 inches to the top. Measure your 29.5 inches of width first, because that is the dimension that stops this build, not the height.

The feet ship with the box and are not predrilled, which is deliberate. Set them where they work for your floor. If you want to run the box forward firing instead, leave them off and stand it up. The nutserts are drawn in our CAD from the actual driver we measured on the bench, so the bolt circle and the cutout come off the ShopSabre in the same operation from the same origin. They cannot drift.

One install note. The 1.75 inch gap under the baffle is the working air path. Do not park a spare tire, a toolbox, or a folded moving blanket against it. Down fire boxes that sound dead almost always have something jammed under them.

Built for One Driver, Not for a Size Class

Performance Optimized enclosures are engineered around a specific subwoofer. This one is cut to the Audiomobile GT2 2010, a 10 inch driver with 400 watts RMS of power handling, 11.9mm of one way Xmax, and only 4.25 inches of mounting depth. Those numbers are unusual together, and they are what make a cabinet this shallow possible in the first place.

The GT2 2010 asks for a small chamber. Audiomobile's own minimum sealed figure is 0.50 cubic feet. This enclosure gives each driver 0.60 cubic feet of net airspace in a common chamber, which sits comfortably inside the driver's working range while keeping the cabinet down to 8.5 inches of external height. The cutouts are 9.2 inches, matched to the driver's gasket ID, and the mounting pattern comes from the actual driver rather than a spec sheet.

Why Down Fire

Turning the drivers toward the floor is not a styling decision. It changes what the enclosure does to the space around it and what the space around it can do to the enclosure.

The drivers radiate into a hard surface 1.75 inches away. In a trunk or cargo area that reinforcement, combined with cabin gain, is what makes a compact sealed box feel bigger than its airspace.

Groceries, tools, luggage, and dogs never touch a surround that is facing down. The most common cause of a damaged subwoofer in a daily driven vehicle is cargo, not power.

No baskets, no grilles, no protrusions. The top of the cabinet is a flat carpeted surface, which in most vehicles means you get the cargo floor back instead of building around a box.

What Ships With the Enclosure

Four feet come standard with every Performance Optimized Down Fire enclosure. There is no upgrade tier and no separate accessory to buy.

  • ABS and carbon fiber composite, machined in house on the same equipment as our terminal cups.
  • 1.75 inches of lift, which sets the working air gap between the baffle and the floor.
  • No predrilled mounting holes, so the enclosure is never locked into a single orientation. Set them where they suit your floor, or omit them and run forward firing.
  • Overall height with feet installed: 10.25 inches. Cabinet alone is 8.5 inches.

Keep the gap clear. The 1.75 inch space under the baffle is the air path, not empty room. A spare tire, a toolbox, or a folded moving blanket pressed against the opening will choke the output. Down fire systems that sound dead almost always have something jammed underneath them.

Before You Buy: Read the Impedance

The GT2 2010 runs a single 3 ohm nominal voice coil at 2.8 ohms DCR. This is not a standard car audio impedance and there is no dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm version of the driver. Two of them in this enclosure give you exactly two options.

  • Parallel, 1.5 ohms nominal. Requires a 1 ohm stable monoblock. An amplifier in the 800 to 1000 watt RMS range is the clean match and the configuration we recommend.
  • Series, 6 ohms nominal. Most amplifiers will drive 6 ohms, but output falls to roughly 40 to 50 percent of the 1 ohm rating. This is the path when your amplifier is not 1 ohm stable.

Settle the amplifier question before the enclosure ships. It is the single decision that determines what this system is capable of.

How It Is Built

Cabinet

Cut on our ShopSabre CNC from Langboard Elite MDF and assembled with V groove and dado joinery, with internal bracing and a double baffle at 1.5 inches. Every panel meets on a machined joint rather than a butt seam, so the cabinet stays rigid and puts its energy into the drivers instead of the panels. Internal height under the top panel is 6.25 inches against the driver's 4.25 inch mounting depth, so the motors clear with room to breathe.

Mounting Pattern Drawn In House

We have the GT2 2010 in the shop. We measured it, built the bolt circle in CAD, and the nutsert locations and the cutout are machined in the same operation from the same origin on the router. The holes cannot drift relative to each other, because the machine never re-references between them. Threaded inserts are installed and 8/32 machine screws are supplied, so the drivers can come out and go back in as many times as the build requires.

Wiring and Damping

The Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite terminal cup is side mounted, which keeps the connection accessible with the enclosure sitting on its feet. Pre wired with 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions. Polyfill is installed before the enclosure leaves the shop.

Finish

Charcoal gray trunk liner standard, plush black available. The lasered acrylic badge mounts on the front face rather than the woofer face, so it stays visible in the down fire orientation.

Fitment

External dimensions are 29.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall by 16 inches deep, or 10.25 inches tall with the feet installed. The 8.5 inch cabinet height clears the rear deck line on most full size sedans and sits under most cargo covers.

Measure the width first. At 29.5 inches this is a full width enclosure. Height is the spec that makes this design interesting, but width is the spec that decides whether it goes in your vehicle. There is no compact or behind seat version of this enclosure.

Enclosure Performance

Every Proline X enclosure is designed to a target alignment rather than a convenient box size. These are the sealed alignment figures for the Audiomobile GT2 2010 across the usable volume range, calculated from the published Thiele-Small parameters: Fs 27.5 Hz, Qts 0.61, Vas 1.17 cu ft.

Read the curve honestly. The GT2 2010 has a Qts of 0.61, which means it cannot reach a textbook 0.707 Qtc in any enclosure that fits in a vehicle. You would need 3.41 cu ft per driver. At 0.60 cu ft this alignment lands at Qtc 1.048, which puts a roughly 1.5 dB lift around 47 Hz and an anechoic F3 of 36.4 Hz. That is an impact alignment, not a flat one. Loaded into a trunk or cargo floor and firing down, cabin gain fills in below the knee and the result is a punchy, high output system. If you want a flat sealed alignment above all else, this is not the driver or the enclosure for it.

Every Proline X Performance Series enclosure is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF, 3/4" (18mm) panels produced to published mill specifications. Most enclosure manufacturers source generic MDF without published data. We can tell you the internal bond rating, the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rupture, and the face and edge screw holding strength for every panel in this enclosure, because we chose the material based on those numbers, not on price or availability.

Langboard Elite is produced in the United States. The specifications below are pulled directly from Langboard's published mill data and are verifiable. This is the same panel stock used in our full Proline X lineup.

200 psi: The Number That Actually Matters for Enclosures

The internal bond rating measures how well the MDF panel resists delamination under sustained pressure applied perpendicular to the face. In a subwoofer enclosure, every bass transient generates a pressure pulse that pushes outward on every panel simultaneously. A panel that begins to delaminate internally loses stiffness gradually. The symptoms are slow: a box that starts to sound softer, less defined, less punchy over months of use. 200 psi internal bond is the spec that determines how long this enclosure holds its acoustic integrity under daily use at real power levels.

Stiffness

410,000 psi MOE: Less Flex, Less Resonance

The modulus of elasticity measures panel stiffness, its resistance to bending under load. A stiffer panel flexes less under the pressure generated by a high-excursion driver at volume. Panel flex is a source of acoustic coloration: the panel itself begins to radiate sound at its own resonant frequency, adding distortion to the output. 410,000 psi stiffness combined with V-groove and dado joinery means the panels stay rigid and the bracing controls resonance at the structure level, not the panel level. The bass you hear comes from the driver, not the box.

Screw Holding

325 lb Face / 250 lb Edge: Joints That Stay Locked

Screw holding strength determines how firmly the panel grips a fastener at the face and at the edge. This matters most at the baffle joint, where the front panel meets the side panels and where the driver is mounted. A panel with low screw holding strength allows fasteners to loosen over time under vibration, leading to air gaps at the joint and loss of acoustic seal. 325 lb face screw holding strength means the baffle hardware stays put. Combined with dado joinery and adhesive, the front panel on a Proline X Performance Series enclosure is not going anywhere.

Named Panel Stock: Not "Premium MDF"

The phrase "premium MDF" or "high-density MDF" appears on marketing copy for enclosures across every price point, from $40 to $400. It is not a specification. It is a description with no defined standard. Langboard Elite is a named, sourced, mill-documented product with published data. We name it in our copy because naming it holds us accountable to the spec. You can look up Langboard Elite independently, verify the numbers on this page, and confirm you are getting what we say you are getting. That is the point.
