INSTALLER'S TAKE

The Encore 4415 earns its price when a customer has a specific installation constraint: they need 15 inch output but only have 6 inches of mounting depth. That situation comes up more than you would think, particularly in full-size truck under-seat builds and SUV third-row floor builds. At 5.9 inches, the 4415 fits in spaces that would normally take a 10 inch driver, while delivering the cone area and air displacement of a genuine 15.

The ICAR intercooler is the reason this driver handles 1000 watts in a shallow package. Shallow-mount drivers fail thermally because the reduced motor mass dissipates heat slowly. Audiomobile solved this with forced-air cooling that does not depend on motor mass. If you are powering this with a clean 1000 watt amplifier, the thermal management is there to handle it.

The sealed alignment runs above Qtc 1.0 in all three recommended volumes, so the character is punchy and impactful, not flat. That is appropriate for a driver being used in large vehicles where you want presence and output to fill the space. Build it at 1.5 cubic feet, wire the dual 4-ohm in parallel for 2 ohms, and match a quality 1-ohm stable amp at around 1000 watts. The Encore 4415 down-firing enclosure we stock is purpose-built for this driver if the customer wants a turnkey solution.

Audiomobile Encore 4415 15 Inch Subwoofer

A 15 inch subwoofer that mounts at 5.9 inches. 1000 watts RMS, 19mm Xmax, carbon fiber cone, ICAR aluminum intercooler, shaped magnetic gap motor, and upper and lower flux-stabilization rings. Where a standard 15 physically cannot fit, the Encore 4415 does.

1000W RMS 19mm Xmax 5.9 in Mounting Depth Dual 4-Ohm

The Low-Profile 15 That Performs Like a Full-Depth Driver

The Encore 4415 was built around a specific problem: a standard 15 inch subwoofer requires 7 to 10 inches of mounting depth. That rules out a long list of truck cab installs, SUV spare tire wells, and custom builds where the space exists for a 15 inch footprint but not a standard 15 inch depth. At 5.9 inches, the Encore 4415 fits where a conventional 12 inch shallow driver would go, while delivering the cone area and output of a 15.

Audiomobile achieved this through a purpose-engineered motor and cooling system rather than by simply shortening the motor stack and accepting reduced performance. The result is genuine 1000 watt RMS continuous power handling with 19mm of one-way linear Xmax from a driver less than 6 inches deep.

ICAR Intercooler and SuperCool Venting

Standard subwoofer cooling relies on passive heat dissipation from the motor gap and voice coil surface. At 1000 watts continuous from a shallow motor package, that is not enough. The Encore 4415 uses Audiomobile's ICAR aluminum intercooled heatsink and radiator system to actively manage voice coil temperature. The SuperCool motor venting adds forced-air circulation through the motor internals, pulling heat away from the heat sinks which sit in close proximity to the voice coil regardless of cone position.

This system is why the Encore 4415 can sustain 1000 watts continuously where most shallow-mount drivers would fail. The thermal management is the engineering story behind the power rating.

Shaped Magnetic Gap and Flux-Stabilization Rings

The SMG (Shaped Magnetic Gap) motor geometry optimizes magnetic flux distribution across the voice coil winding height, maintaining consistent motor force across the 19mm excursion range. Upper and lower aluminum alloy flux-stabilization rings reduce inductance variation with cone position, which in practice means lower distortion at high excursion and a cleaner, more accurate bass response at all output levels. The voice coil inductance stays consistent rather than rising as the coil moves out of the gap, which preserves transient response and high-frequency rolloff behavior.

Carbon Fiber Cone and Dust Cap

Carbon fiber provides a high stiffness-to-weight ratio that is difficult to match with paper or polypropylene-based cones at 15 inches. Lower moving mass means the 1000 watt motor can accelerate the cone more quickly, improving transient response. Higher cone stiffness delays breakup modes to higher frequencies, keeping the driver behaving as a piston throughout its operating range. The carbon fiber dust cap provides the same stiffness advantage at the center of the cone where large dust caps on high-excursion drivers often flex and add distortion.

Cast Aluminum Frame

The 6-spoke cast aluminum frame provides rigidity that stamped steel cannot match at this power level. The Silver Vein powder coat adds corrosion resistance and a distinctive appearance. The CNC diamond-cut motor finish is functional as well as aesthetic: the precision-machined surface ensures tight gap tolerances that are critical for consistent motor performance at high excursion.

Fitment at a glance: mounting depth 5.9 inches, dual 4-ohm voice coil (wire parallel for 2 ohms, series for 8 ohms). Recommended sealed volume 1.25 to 1.8 cubic feet. Compatible with free-air and infinite baffle installations. Audiomobile also supports ported enclosures; contact Audio Intensity for ported alignment guidance specific to the 4415.

Sealed Enclosure Performance: Pre-Calculated Results

Using Audiomobile's published Thiele-Small parameters and their recommended sealed volumes, here are the predicted Qtc, system resonance (Fc), and F3 rolloff for each box size. Calculated using the same formulas as the Audio Intensity Sealed Box Calculator.

The Encore 4415 is a high-Qts driver: all three sealed volumes produce Qtc above 1.0, delivering the punchy, impactful bass character the Encore is known for. The 31 Hz Fs and 76L Vas allow genuine deep extension despite the shallow 5.9 inch mounting depth. F3 in the 38-41 Hz range is exceptional performance for a low-profile 15 inch driver.

Dual 4-Ohm  |  Qts 0.631  |  Fs 31 Hz  |  Vas 76 L
Box Volume Qtc Fc F3
1.25 cu ftMinimum / tightest / highest Qtc 1.119 55.0 Hz 41.4 Hz
1.5 cu ft ★Optimal balance of output and extension 1.054 51.8 Hz 39.8 Hz
1.8 cu ftMaximum / deepest extension 0.996 48.9 Hz 38.5 Hz

Frequency Response — Sealed

-12dB -9dB -6dB -3dB 0dB 3dB 20Hz 30Hz 50Hz 100Hz 200Hz
1.25 cu ft (Qtc 1.119) 1.5 cu ft (Qtc 1.054) ★ 1.8 cu ft (Qtc 0.996)

What the numbers mean: All three sealed volumes for the Encore 4415 produce Qtc at or above 1.0, which means a noticeable midbass lift centered around the system resonance. This produces the strong, impactful bass character the Encore 4415 is designed for, not flat Butterworth accuracy, but output and presence. The F3 values in the 38-41 Hz range represent real deep bass extension for a driver that mounts at 5.9 inches. Vehicle cabin gain below 80 Hz adds another 6-12 dB in practice. Run your own numbers in the Sealed Box Calculator.
