INSTALLER'S TAKE

The X2 1100.1 is where the X2 Series starts to get serious. At 2 ohms it makes 600 watts, which is the right power level for most high-Xmax 12 inch and 15 inch subwoofers in daily builds. The 650.1 at 350 watts at 2 ohms will run an Arc Audio ARC 12 or IDQ12 correctly but will leave a Wavtech thinPRO12 or IDMAX12 with power headroom on the table. The 1100.1 at 600 watts closes that gap.

The Level 2 cosmetics are a real difference from the 650.1. The extruded brushed aluminum shroud and blue illuminated badge look like a premium product. In installations where the amplifier is visible, this matters to the customer. In hidden installs it does not. Both amps sound the same; the chassis is the visual distinction.

The 13-inch length fits most under-seat locations in crew cab trucks and full-size SUVs, tight under rear seats in some compact crossovers. Check the available length before recommending the 1100.1 in compact vehicle applications where the 650.1 at 9 inches would fit cleanly.

The subsonic filter is more important on the 1100.1 than the 650.1 because the power level is high enough to destroy a subwoofer in a ported box that does not have one set correctly. At 1100 watts into a vented enclosure, infrasonic content at and below the port tuning frequency produces uncontrolled excursion within seconds. Set it at the tuning frequency or slightly below. This is a setup step, not optional.

Same strapping capability as the 650.1: two 1100.1s give you 2200 watts at 4 ohms in master/slave. If the customer has one 1100.1 now and wants to grow, adding a second is the path to 2200 watts without buying the 2500.1.

Arc Audio X2 Series Amplifiers

Arc Audio X2 1100.1 Monoblock Amplifier

The mid-tier X2 Series monoblock. 1100 watts RMS at 1 ohm, 600 watts at 2 ohms, Level 2 extruded aluminum chassis with blue illuminated badge, and all the same control architecture as the 650.1 at 4 inches more length. The right choice for dual-subwoofer builds, higher-power single-driver applications, and systems where the 650.1 runs out of headroom.

650.1 vs 1100.1: What the Step Up Buys

The Arc Audio X2 650.1 and X2 1100.1 share the same 6.268 inch width, 2.086 inch height, control architecture, balanced differential inputs, strapping system, speaker-level pigtails, start-stop compatibility, and subwoofer-only 20-230 Hz bandwidth. The 1100.1 is 4 inches longer at 13.0 inches versus 9.02 inches on the 650.1, uses 3 x 30A fuses versus 2 x 30A, and steps up to Level 2 cosmetics with the extruded brushed-aluminum chassis and blue illuminated acrylic badge. Power output scales proportionally: where the 650.1 makes 350W at 2 ohms, the 1100.1 makes 600W. Where the 650.1 makes 650W at 1 ohm, the 1100.1 makes 1100W. Choose the 1100.1 when the 650.1 does not have enough headroom for the subwoofer configuration and power level you need.

Not suitable for full-range or mid/high-frequency speakers. The X2 1100.1 bandwidth is 20-230 Hz, optimized for subwoofer use only. Do not connect tweeters, midrange drivers, or full-range speakers to this amplifier.

Level 2 Cosmetics

The X2 1100.1 uses Level 2 cosmetics: an extruded brushed-aluminum chassis shroud versus the black steel shroud on the 650.1, and a blue illuminated acrylic badge in the center that lights when the amplifier is on and flashes diagnostic codes. The badge rotates in 90-degree increments to suit any mounting orientation. All tuning controls are concealed under the removable shroud, which presents a clean installation once setup is complete.

Strappable to 2200 Watts

Two X2 1100.1 amplifiers can be strapped in master/slave configuration to deliver 2200 watts RMS into a 4-ohm load. The master amplifier provides all control functions; the slave amplifier bypasses all controls except phase and follows the master's signal via the Slave In connection. The minimum strapped load is 4 ohms. This allows a dual-1100.1 system to reach 2200 watts at 4 ohms for a single high-power 4-ohm subwoofer or a pair of 8-ohm subwoofers wired parallel at 4 ohms.

Balanced Differential Inputs and OEM Integration

The X2 1100.1 uses the same balanced differential input stage as the 650.1: compatible with RCA line-level, balanced DSP outputs, common-ground speaker-level, and BTL factory amplifier outputs. The included speaker-level input RCA pigtails with voltage divider allow direct connection to factory audio outputs in most OEM integration applications. DC Detect and Signal Detect auto turn-on modes eliminate the need for a dedicated remote wire.

Subsonic Filter for Ported Enclosures

The adjustable subsonic filter from 10 to 80 Hz provides excursion protection in ported enclosure applications. At 1100 watts into a ported subwoofer enclosure, infrasonic content below the port tuning frequency will push the cone well beyond its mechanical limits without a subsonic filter in place. The filter should be set at or slightly below the enclosure tuning frequency in all ported builds. The low-pass crossover from 30 to 230 Hz handles the upper frequency boundary; the subsonic handles the lower boundary.

Installation summary: 4 AWG power and ground, 3 x 30A ATC/ATO on-board fuses, removable plug-style speaker terminals (12 AWG max), balanced differential RCA inputs with speaker-level pigtails included, DC Detect or Signal Detect auto turn-on, remote level control included, start-stop compatible below 8V, Slave In/Out for master/slave strapping.
