Proline X - Professional Series Subwoofer Enclosures | Sundown

Proline X Professional Series enclosures for Sundown Audio cover the full range of the SA, NS, X, Z, and U series subwoofer lineup. These drivers span from high-output daily drivers to full competition-grade subwoofers — every one of them requires an enclosure tuned to its specific Thiele-Small parameters to perform at its rated capability.

Each Professional Series enclosure uses a double baffle configuration on the subwoofer mounting surface. Sundown drivers operate at high excursion levels under sustained power. The double baffle eliminates flex at the point of highest mechanical stress — the failure point that generic enclosures never address.

Internal volume and port geometry are calculated independently for each Sundown driver model and size. You are not fitting a Z or U series subwoofer into a box sized for an SA. Every enclosure in this lineup is built around the specific driver it is matched to.

If you are running Sundown and you want the full output the driver was designed to deliver, this is the correct enclosure series.

Why Sundown drivers demand a precision enclosure

Sundown Audio builds subwoofers across a wide output range — from the SA series daily driver through the NS, X, Z, and U series competition drivers. What they share is a motor and suspension system tuned to operate within a specific acoustic load. Put any of these drivers in a generic box and you are not just losing output — you are working against the engineering that makes the driver perform. The Professional Series exists to eliminate that problem entirely.

Double baffle construction

Every Professional Series enclosure uses a double baffle design on the subwoofer mounting surface. Sundown drivers across all series operate at high excursion levels — the mounting board absorbs the majority of that mechanical force at full output. A single MDF layer flexes and fatigues over time under those conditions. The double baffle eliminates that failure point and maintains air-tight cabinet integrity across the life of the installation.

Matched to each driver's Thiele-Small parameters

Each enclosure in this lineup is calculated from the Qts, Vas, and Fs values of the specific Sundown driver it is paired with. Internal net volume accounts for port displacement, bracing, and material thickness. Port dimensions are sized to deliver the target tuning frequency without chuffing at sustained high-power output. A Z series enclosure is not a scaled version of an SA enclosure — it is independently engineered for that driver's mechanical characteristics.

Series coverage

The Proline X Professional Series lineup covers Sundown SA, NS, X, Z, and U series subwoofers in single and dual configurations across sealed and ported alignments. Ported enclosures are tuned for maximum SPL and extended low-frequency output. Sealed enclosures deliver tight, controlled bass suited for music accuracy and daily driver applications. Each configuration is built to the same double baffle construction standard regardless of driver series or alignment.

Materials and build standard

Every Professional Series enclosure is built from Langboard Elite MDF — 48.5 lb/ft³ density with 200 psi internal bond strength. CNC-cut dado and V-groove joinery ensures air-tight cabinet integrity at every panel intersection. The terminal cup is ABS/carbon fiber construction, pre-wired with 12-gauge OFC, stainless steel hardware, and copper ring terminals. Polyfill is included and pre-installed where the alignment calls for it.

Amplifier requirements

Sundown drivers across all series handle significant continuous power — the Z and U series in particular require amplifiers that can deliver stable high-current output at rated impedance. Match your amplifier to the specific driver's RMS rating. Running underpowered limits output and leaves the driver's capability unrealized. Running overpowered without proper gain structure causes thermal failure regardless of enclosure quality.
