INSTALLER'S TAKE

I have been installing amplifiers since 1985, and the Andrea is the kind of amp I grew up on: a real Full Complementary Class AB design with an honest power rating and a noise floor quiet enough for serious sound quality work. The spec that matters most to me here is the damping factor over 200. On midbass duty in an active front stage, that control is something you can hear. Kick drums start and stop instead of blooming. My favorite use for this amp is exactly that: a pair of quality midbass drivers with a Goldhorn DSP handling crossover and time alignment, with the Andrea's onboard filters set wide open. If you are running it bridged on a single 4-ohm subwoofer, 500 watts of Class AB power with the bass boost remote up front is a clean, simple setup that just works. Two things to plan for. First, this is a full-size 16.4 inch chassis, so measure your mounting space before you order. Second, Class AB runs warmer than Class D, so give it airflow and do not bury it in a sealed cubby. Wire it properly, give it a solid ground, and this amp will outlast the vehicle it goes in.

US Acoustics Analog 2-Channel Series

US Acoustics Andrea 2-Channel Class AB Amplifier

Old school Full Complementary Class AB power with modern flexibility. Stereo for a serious front stage, or bridged mono for a single subwoofer.

150W x 2 @ 4 Ohms 250W x 2 @ 2 Ohms 500W x 1 Bridged @ 4 Ohms 2-Year Warranty

Real Class AB Power, Built the Old School Way

The US Acoustics Andrea is a Full Complementary Class AB 2-channel amplifier rated at 150 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms and 250 watts RMS per channel into 2 ohms, with 500 watts RMS available bridged into a 4-ohm mono load. US Acoustics has built amplifiers around this design philosophy for over 25 years: low distortion analog output stages tuned for sound quality first.

The numbers back up the approach. Total harmonic distortion measures less than 0.01 percent, signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 103 dB, and channel separation exceeds 91 dB. Frequency response runs 10 Hz to 30 kHz within half a decibel. A damping factor greater than 200 at 100 Hz into 4 ohms keeps woofer cones under control, which you hear as tighter, more articulate bass instead of loose overhang.

>200Damping Factor
>91 dBChannel Separation

Variable Bass Boost with Wired Remote Included

The Andrea includes a variable bass boost adjustable from 0 to +12 dB centered at 45 Hz, controlled by an included wired remote. Bridged on a subwoofer, that puts output level at your fingertips from the front seat. Running stereo on midbass drivers, a few dB of boost can restore low-end weight that door mounting locations tend to give away.

Butterworth Crossovers for Clean Frequency Division

Onboard Butterworth filters handle crossover duty without external processing. The high-pass sweeps from 80 Hz to 1.2 kHz at 12 dB per octave, covering everything from midbass protection to midrange duty in an active setup. The low-pass sweeps from 10 Hz to 250 Hz at 24 dB per octave, steep enough to keep midrange content out of a subwoofer. Running a DSP instead? Set the filters wide open and let the processor do the work.

Three Ways to Run the Andrea

Stereo Front Stage

150 watts per channel into 4 ohms is serious power for a quality component set. The Class AB output stage keeps vocals and acoustic instruments natural at volume.

Dedicated Midbass in an Active System

With a high damping factor and clean power into 2 or 4 ohms, the Andrea excels driving a pair of midbass woofers in a DSP-controlled active front stage. This is exactly where we pair it with a Goldhorn DSP for crossover, time alignment, and EQ.

Bridged Mono Subwoofer

Bridged into 4 ohms, the Andrea delivers 500 watts RMS with the bass boost remote within reach. A strong match for a single sealed 10 or 12 inch subwoofer build.

Sizing note: the Andrea measures 16.4 x 8.9 x 2.2 inches. It is a full-size analog chassis, so plan your amp rack or mounting board accordingly. Internal fusing is 2 x 35A.

Built to Survive the Install

Angled terminals make for clean, show-quality wiring. Docking Pads reduce vibration transfer to extend amplifier life. Protection circuitry covers DC, short circuit, thermal, and overload conditions, with diagnostic LEDs that tell you what is happening at a glance. Every Andrea sold by Audio Intensity is brand new from US Acoustics with a 2-year warranty through authorized dealers.
