INSTALLER'S TAKE

The M22 is the install friendly tweeter in the SI line. 17 mm of mounting depth, a 42 mm cutout, friction fit, direct leads out the back. In a sail panel or a factory tweeter location that combination solves problems a larger tweeter creates.

The tuned rear chamber is the part worth understanding. It pulls Fs down to 850 Hz despite the shallow body, and a low Fs is what gives you room to cross over low without stressing the dome. SI still recommend 2,800 Hz minimum at 24 dB per octave, which is sensible, but the headroom behind that recommendation is real.

Natural silk dome and surround, 90 dB sensitivity, 4 ohm. The grille is laser etched stainless and part of the assembly rather than an accessory.

Choosing between the M22 and the M28: the M22 is smaller, shallower and friction fit. The M28 has the larger dome, a lower 680 Hz resonance that supports a 2,000 Hz crossover, and a machined aluminum body with push terminals. Decide on the mounting location first, then the crossover point.

M22

22 mm Silk Dome Tweeter | Sold as a Pair

17 mm Mounting Depth 42 mm Cutout Tuned Rear Chamber Fs 850 Hz 100W RMS

Small Tweeter, Easy Install

The M22 is a smaller, completely re-engineered version of the Stereo Integrity M25 tweeter. Stereo Integrity started from what it wanted out of a tweeter at install time: a shallower mounting depth, a good looking protective grille, and a smaller footprint that fits more locations.

Despite a mounting depth of just 17 mm, a tuned rear chamber lowers the resonant frequency to 850 Hz. That added low end makes the transition to a midrange or midbass easier to get right.

Engineering Highlights

Natural Silk Dome

The 22 mm dome and surround are natural silk for a smooth, natural sound.

Neodymium Motor

A single slug of neodymium inside the voice coil drives a solid copper coil wound on a Kapton former.

Laser-Etched Grille

The black anodized stainless steel grille is integrated with the logo laser-etched in the center, and its pattern and open area are engineered so sound from the dome passes through uninhibited.

Friction Fit and Direct Leads

The lightweight custom tooled polymer chassis mounts with a friction fit, and direct leads exit the rear for simple wiring.

Crossover Recommendation

Stereo Integrity recommends a high-pass crossover point of at least 2,800 Hz with a slope of 24 dB per octave or steeper. The specification sheet lists a frequency response of 1,600 Hz to 40,000 Hz.

Build a front stage: Within the Stereo Integrity range, the M22 pairs with the TM65 mkIV or TM8 midbass for a 2-way, or with the M3 Carbon or M350 Carbon midrange added for a 3-way.

Fitment

Outer diameter: 50 mm. Cutout: 42 mm. Mounting depth: 17 mm. Mounting: friction fit. Impedance: 4 ohm. Sold as a pair.
