Eton Speakers
The 2024 and 2025 Ford F-150 introduced a significant challenge for audio enthusiasts: a redesigned rear cabin wall with relocated factory components (amplifiers and modules) that makes older "universal" truck boxes obsolete. Standard enclosures simply won't fit without permanent modification or loss of seat function. This collection solves that problem with
vehicle-specific, direct-fit enclosures designed to nest perfectly into that dead space, restoring the low-end punch missing from the factory B&O or base audio systems.
Choosing the Right Solution: 10" vs. 12"
In a "behind seat" application, depth is your most valuable currency.
The Single 10" Route: This is the gold standard for "Invisible" audio. A 10-inch driver, like the JL Audio TW3 or Kicker CompRT, typically requires less air space (internal volume). This allows the enclosure to be smaller, ensuring the rear seat locks back into place effortlessly with zero resistance. It produces tight, punchy bass ideal for rock, country, and pop.
The Single 12" Route: Historically, putting a 12 behind an F-150 seat meant sacrificing seat travel. However, with new "Ultra-Shallow" technology—specifically from Wavtech—you can now fit a 12-inch cone in the same depth as a 10. This moves significantly more air, providing deeper sub-bass extension (rumble) preferred for hip-hop and electronic music.
Technical Features: The "Shallow" Revolution
To fit massive sound into a 3-4 inch deep box, these loaded enclosures rely on advanced engineering, not just smaller magnets.
- Concentric Suspension (JL Audio): The 10TW3-D4 uses a specialized structure where the spider is placed inside the voice coil, compressing the mounting depth to just 3.25" while maintaining long excursion.
- Oversized Voice Coils (Wavtech): The ThinPro 12 utilizes a massive 5" voice coil. This allows the magnet to sit around the coil rather than behind it, reducing depth to a shocking 3.0" while handling 750W RMS.
- All-Weather Design (Kicker): The CompRT series features UV-resistant cones and weather-proof surrounds, making them durable enough for work trucks that might see dirt or moisture when seats are folded up.
Installation Advice
These units are "Loaded Enclosures," meaning the subwoofer is pre-installed and wired internally. Installation generally requires:
1. Removal of the factory rear wall carpet/padding (in some trims) to gain an extra 0.5" of depth.
2. Relocation of the factory jack kit (often moved to under-seat storage).
3. Wiring to an external amplifier (the factory radio power is insufficient for these drivers).
