INSTALLER'S TAKE

The X2V2 12 is where the X2V2 platform starts to fill a cabin without asking much from the amplifier. Eighty-five plus dB sensitivity out of a 250 watt RMS driver means a mid-range mono amp delivers real output. I have heard plenty of 12 inch subs that needed 500 clean watts to sound like they were trying. This one does not.

The cooling system is the part I want every buyer to understand. The vented basket, the T-Yoke vent, the copper-coated aluminum coil on Kapton, all of it exists because a 12 inch driver generates more heat than a 10 at the same power and excursion. Arc Audio addressed that mechanically rather than just derate the rating. The result is an amplifier that handles its 250 watts continuously, not just on a bench test.

Pick your voice coil based on your amplifier first. D2 if your mono wants 1 ohm, D4 if it prefers 2. The alignment numbers differ between them, and the enclosure section below shows exactly what sealed box character you get in each recommended volume. Build it at the optimal 1.15 cubic feet, wire it right, and set gains with a clean signal. The rubber surround and woven leads mean this driver will still be working years from now.

Arc Audio X2V2 Series Subwoofers

Arc Audio X2V2 12 Inch Subwoofer

More cone, more output, same engineering. The X2V2 12 brings the full thermal and cooling system of the X2V2 line to a 12 inch driver rated at 250 watts RMS with deep sealed extension.

250W RMS 500W Peak Dual 2 or Dual 4 Ohm 1-Year Warranty

250 Watts Built to Last

The Arc Audio X2V2 12 inch subwoofer handles 250 watts RMS continuous and 500 watts maximum, with a recommended amplifier range of 5 to 500 watts. The same extended power testing philosophy applies here as on the 10: Arc Audio doubled test power levels after each successful round to identify and address actual failure points, producing a 250 watt RMS rating that reflects sustained real-world thermal capacity.

The 514 square centimeter cone area moves substantially more air than a 10 inch driver at the same excursion. Combined with 15mm of one-way linear Xmax and sensitivity reaching 85.95 dB on the D2, the X2V2 12 fills a cabin without asking for a high-powered amplifier to do it.

The Same Cooling System, Scaled Up

Every thermal feature from the X2V2 10 carries over to the 12. A two-inch copper-coated aluminum voice coil on a Kapton former, anodized black for radiative heat dissipation. The four-spoke stamped steel basket with eight integrated motor cooling vents and a T-Yoke center vent. Double-stacked magnets for motor efficiency. The 12 inch cone moves more air and generates more heat at the same power level, and Arc Audio engineered the platform to handle that.

Construction Built for Daily Use

The reinforced pulp paper cone carries a moisture-resistant coating for reliability in all conditions. The large-diameter rubber surround replaces foam, eliminating the most common long-term failure point in subwoofers. The high-roll Conex spider has tinsel leads woven directly into it, removing the bare-lead designs that cause cone slap and short circuits over time.

Choose Your Voice Coil: D2 or D4

The dual 2-ohm (D2) wires to 1 ohm or 4 ohms, the dual 4-ohm (D4) wires to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. The T/S parameters differ between variants, which changes the sealed box alignment and character, so select the coil based on your amplifier's preferred impedance first. The enclosure performance section below shows exactly how each variant behaves across the recommended sealed volume range.

Fitment at a glance: mounting depth 6.75 inches, cutout 11.11 inches, outside diameter 12.45 inches, displacement 0.07 cu ft. Recommended sealed volume is 0.9 to 1.55 cubic feet. Confirm cutout, depth, and box space before ordering.

Sealed Enclosure Performance: Pre-Calculated Results

Using Arc Audio's published Thiele-Small parameters and their recommended sealed volumes, here are the predicted Qtc, system resonance (Fc), F3 rolloff, and frequency response for each box size. Calculated using the same formulas as the Audio Intensity Sealed Box Calculator.

The X2V2 12 is a high-Qts driver, producing elevated midbass presence and impact in a sealed box rather than a flat Butterworth alignment. The payoff is deep F3 extension into the upper 30 Hz range from a moderately sized enclosure, with significant additional cabin gain below 80 Hz in-vehicle.

0.9 cu ft (Qtc 1.119) 1.15 cu ft (Qtc 1.021) ★ 1.55 cu ft (Qtc 0.922)

What the numbers mean: Qtc near 0.707 is textbook Butterworth (flattest sealed response). The X2V2 12 runs higher across all volumes by design, producing warm, punchy bass with a midbass lift rather than a ruler-flat response. The D2 in 1.15 cu ft lands at Qtc 0.873 (warm, full-sounding). The D4 at the same volume hits Qtc 1.021 (pronounced midbass punch). F3 in the 38 to 42 Hz range is strong for a 12 inch driver in a moderate enclosure, and vehicle cabin gain below 80 Hz adds 6 to 12 dB in practice. Run your own numbers in the Sealed Box Calculator.
