The ARC 10 is what I recommend when someone has space for a moderate-sized box and wants the ARC Series character with more output than the 8 provides. The 87 dB sensitivity is the key number. That is a meaningful step up, and it means a clean 150 to 200 watt amplifier makes real bass here, not just background warmth.

What I find most interesting about this driver from a design standpoint is the D2 T/S alignment. A Qts of 0.390 in a 0.75 cubic foot box gives you a Qtc right around 0.693, which is essentially a textbook Butterworth. In practice that means tight, accurate bass with no artificial midbass hump, no overhang, just the bass that is in the recording. If you are building a sound quality system and want a 10 that disappears into the music instead of announcing itself, the D2 is the coil to use.

The D4 is the right call if your amplifier prefers 2 ohms. It runs a warmer alignment at the same volume, a bit more midbass presence, which some listeners prefer and some music rewards. Pick the coil based on your amplifier first, then look at the enclosure performance numbers below to understand what character you are getting.

Arc Audio ARC Series 10 Inch Subwoofer

The step up in the ARC family. A 10 inch linear design driver with 250 watts RMS, 87 dB sensitivity, and a near-Butterworth sealed alignment in a moderate-sized enclosure. More output, same Arc Audio accuracy.

250W RMS 500W Peak Dual 2 or Dual 4 Ohm 87 dB Sensitivity

More Cone, Same Philosophy

The Arc Audio ARC Series 10 inch subwoofer handles 250 watts RMS and 500 watts maximum across a recommended amplifier range of 5 to 500 watts. It uses the same linear design approach as the ARC Series 8, maintaining consistent mechanical and electrical behavior across the full excursion range, but with a larger cone area and higher sensitivity that translates directly to more output at the same amplifier power.

At 87 dB sensitivity, the ARC 10 produces measurably more output per watt than the ARC 8, and the 16mm one-way Xmax gives it real excursion capability in the moderate sealed volumes it is designed for. Sealed, ported, and infinite baffle applications are all supported by the driver's Thiele-Small parameters.

Linear Design for Accuracy at Every Volume Level

The ARC Series 10 carries the full Arc Audio linear design feature set: high-temperature black anodized voice coil, one-piece molded rubber surround, progressive flat layered spider with integrated tinsel leads, and stamped steel basket. These are not marketing descriptions, each one serves the core goal of keeping the driver's behavior consistent and predictable regardless of how hard it is playing.

The rubber surround is the durability standout. It will not deteriorate with temperature cycling or UV exposure the way foam surrounds do, which means the driver's parameters stay stable over years of use, not just when it is new.

Choose Your Voice Coil: D2 or D4

The D2 wires to 1 ohm or 4 ohms, the D4 wires to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. The T/S parameters differ between variants, meaning the sealed box alignment and sonic character differ as well. The D2 lands very close to Butterworth in the optimal 0.75 cubic foot volume, a flat, controlled, accurate alignment. The D4 runs a bit warmer at the same volume. The enclosure performance section below shows the full picture for both.

Fitment at a glance: mounting depth 5.5 inches, cutout 9-1/8 inches. Recommended sealed volume is 0.65 to 0.90 cubic feet with 0.75 as the optimal. Arc Audio also lists this driver as suitable for ported and infinite baffle applications.

Sealed Enclosure Performance: Pre-Calculated Results

Using Arc Audio's published Thiele-Small parameters and their recommended sealed volumes, here are the predicted Qtc, system resonance (Fc), F3 rolloff, and frequency response for each box size. Calculated using the same formulas as the Audio Intensity Sealed Box Calculator.

The ARC Series 10 D2 is a low-Qts driver that produces an exceptionally flat sealed alignment across all recommended volumes, ranging from near-Butterworth at the minimum volume down to an extended, well-controlled response at the maximum. The D4 runs slightly warmer but remains in the well-controlled zone throughout. Both variants produce meaningful deep bass extension well below 45 Hz.

What the numbers mean: The ARC Series 10 D2 is one of the flattest-aligning drivers in the ARC lineup, with Qtc values from 0.652 to 0.728 across the full sealed volume range. All three volumes land near or within the Butterworth zone (0.577 to 0.707), meaning accurate, controlled bass with excellent transient response and no artificial midbass lift. The D4 runs slightly higher (0.754 to 0.844) with a bit more fullness and warmth in the low bass. The F3 in the low-to-mid 40s for D2 and upper 30s for D4 is strong performance from a 10 inch driver. Vehicle cabin gain below 80 Hz adds 6 to 12 dB in practice, extending perceived extension well below F3. Run your own numbers in the Sealed Box Calculator.
