For deep bass, 12-inch, 15-inch, and 18-inch subwoofers perform the best. Their larger cone area reaches lower frequencies more easily. A properly tuned ported box increases extension even further. For most vehicles, a 12-inch offers the best balance of low-end depth and enclosure size.

Two 10-inch subs are usually louder because the combined cone area is greater than a single 12. The extra surface area moves more air, increasing output. This setup also spreads the load across two drivers, reducing distortion at high volume. Proper box design is still required for maximum performance.
