Scott Welch, CEO and founder of Audio Intensity, has joined Hybrid Audio Technologies Grand Prix U.S. events which combine in-car sound quality training event and car audio competition. Hybrid Audio Technologies is the mid-end and high-end speaker and subwoofer brand of choice for car audio dealers, audiophiles, and championship car audio competitors around the world, and is synonymous for unique designs that SOUND BETTER. The company celebrates its tenth year of business in 2016.
Over the past eleven months, the company has been engaged in hosting Grand Prix (GP) events around the world for the express purpose of promoting in-car sound quality through training and organized car audio competition. The first GP’s were held in Yokohama, Japan and Guangzhou City, China in March 2015, and returned to the USA with tour stops at Foss Audio & Tint (Tukwilla, WA), Soundscape (Plano, TX), Mobile Audio Plus (Bloomington, IL), and last weekend at Sonus Car Audio (Clarksville, TN). More than seventy consumers and dealers registered to attend the most-recent event in Clarksville TN on February 20, 2016; shortlisting based on registration date had to be done due to size and time constraints.
At the Sonus Car Audio event, a Panel of Experts were on hand to proctor training segments that included SQ Fundamentals (time alignment, frequency curves for tonality, speaker placement, and more), Hands-On Tuning (putting the theory into practice; ground-up tuning of a car audio system; witnessing each step, the possible hurdles, and interaction between actions taken and their reaction within the vehicle), and Panel of Experts Q&A (Scott Buwalda of Hybrid Audio Technologies, Micah Williams of Sonus Car Audio, Scott Welch of Audio Intensity, Peter Jensen of Soundz Customz, and James Donaghy of High Output Audio) covering SQ fundamentals / basic tuning, advanced tuning and SQ, fabrication and installation with SQ considerations, and competition, SPL, powersports, and motorcycles.
Run simultaneously with the training was an IASCA double-point key event SQ competition, where ten cars competed. IASCA certified judge Tom Meyers was on hand to judge the vehicles.
“Hybrid Audio is committed to the advancement of both in-car sound quality and sharing knowledge through organized training,” noted Scott Buwalda, founder of Hybrid Audio Technologies. “Our world-class speaker systems are only as good as the person installing and tuning them.”
Scott Welch of Audio Intensity shared Buwalda’s sentiments, and elaborated by stating, “The trainings revealed to me just how necessary sound quality education really is; it was an honor to share my knowledge with attendees eager to learn.”
Future events are planned, including on April 17, 2016 at Soundscape in Plano, TX. For more details and a listing of tour stops and registration info for the April 17, 2016 event, interested parties are encouraged to periodically check in for updates at www.hybrid-audio.com/GP
