Prodigy Audio NB2 Series Subwoofers
350 watts RMS, 14mm Xmax, double-stacked magnet, 4-layer copper voice coil on a 2-inch aluminum former, cotton-blend spider with stitched tinsel leads. A first-tier price point with construction details that belong on drivers costing twice as much.
The NB2-10D4 starts with a double-stacked magnet structure paired to a longer-than-typical voice coil, a combination that gives the driver a motor force advantage over most competitors at this price point. The 4-layer copper voice coil winds on a 2-inch black aluminum former. Aluminum dissipates heat faster than Nomex at the same wall thickness, which is what allows the NB2 to sustain 350 watts RMS continuously rather than in brief bursts before thermal limiting.
Thermal management goes further with a center pole vent and radial backplate holes. The center pole vent moves heated air from behind the voice coil out through the motor while the radial backplate holes create a secondary exhaust path. Together they keep operating temperature low during long high-output sessions.
The spider on the NB2-10D4 uses a cotton-blend weave rather than the standard polyester blend found at this price. Cotton-blend spiders retain compliance more consistently over temperature cycles and have lower creep under sustained displacement, which shows up as tighter bass over time rather than progressively looser suspension as the driver accumulates hours. The tinsel leads are stitched to the spider rather than left floating. This eliminates lead slap, the audible slapping noise that loose tinsel leads produce against the cone or spider at high excursion, which is one of the most common failure points on budget drivers at volume.
The NB2-10D4 uses a reinforced paper cone mated to a foam surround. Paper cones have natural internal damping that polypropylene composites lack, which gives bass a slightly warmer character. The foam surround provides higher initial compliance than rubber at the same stiffness, which contributes to the driver's ability to play low in a reasonably sized ported enclosure. Prodigy uses high-temperature adhesive and glue joints rated at 500 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the assembly to ensure the cone system stays together under sustained power.
With a Qts of 0.514 and Fs of 34 Hz, the NB2-10D4 sits close to the boundary where either sealed or ported alignments work well. In a 0.65 cubic foot sealed enclosure the alignment approaches Butterworth, tight and accurate with F3 in the upper 40s. In a 1.0 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 33 Hz, output and extension both increase substantially, which is where the double-stacked motor and 14mm Xmax deliver the most impact. The enclosure performance section below shows the sealed alignment data. For the ported alignment, Prodigy Audio's published enclosure design is the starting point.
Fitment at a glance: mounting depth 5.625 inches, cutout 9.25 inches, overall diameter 10.375 inches, displacement 0.11 cubic feet. Chrome push terminals accept standard spade or bare wire terminations. The stamped steel frame has a logo cutout and is finished in gloss black.

Using Prodigy Audio's published Thiele-Small parameters, here are the predicted Qtc, system resonance (Fc), and F3 rolloff across three sealed volumes. The NB2-10D4 has a Qts of 0.514, which produces a controlled near-Butterworth alignment in the recommended 0.65 cubic foot sealed box. For maximum output and deeper extension, the ported alignment at 1.0 cubic foot tuned to 33 Hz is where this driver really opens up.

Ported option: Prodigy Audio recommends a 1.0 cubic foot ported enclosure tuned to 33 Hz for maximum output and deeper extension. The ported alignment drops F3 well below the sealed range and is where the NB2-10D4's motor and Xmax advantage is most apparent. For tight accurate bass in limited space, use the sealed 0.65 cubic foot alignment. For high-output daily use, go ported. Run your own sealed numbers in the Sealed Box Calculator.

Pro Tip: EBP is just one factor in enclosure design. Always use complete Thiele-Small parameters and modeling software for optimal results. Our custom enclosures are engineered specifically for each subwoofer's parameters.
The Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP) is calculated by dividing the subwoofer's resonant frequency (Fs) by its electrical damping (Qes). This single number helps predict which enclosure type will work best with your subwoofer.
