KXE is Focal's 12 inch K2 Power: 29 Hz, Qts 0.46, 50 litres of Vas and 22.5 mm of excursion on 502 square centimetres of cone. In the wedge it gets 1.56 cubic feet net, vented at 35.0 Hz through a 23.0 square inch triangular port, for an anechoic F3 of 32.1 Hz. The cabinet is 30 inches wide and 15.5 tall, 9.75 inches deep at the top and 15.39 at the base, and rakes back against the rear seat like every Proline X wedge.

The 10 inch KXE cannot be vented in this chassis: its port runs too fast in the path a wedge allows. The 12 can. More cone and a lower resonance let a 35.0 Hz tuning work through a 25 inch path at 23.1 m/s, 53 percent of the port's core limit, with the cone peaking near 9 mm of its 22.5 at rated power. Sealed, the same driver rolls off at 44.6 Hz; vented in the wedge it reaches 32.1 Hz with 2.1 dB of ripple.

Trunk-load wedge, explained

The 20 degree face is the seat side

A factory rear seat back
leans about 20 degrees off vertical. The mouth is that same triangle cut through
the side panel with its three edges rounded over at 1/2 inch, so the opening at the face is
35.4 square inches and air leaves it at 15.0 metres per second, against the 17.0 metre per
second threshold where a slot port starts to chuff. The cabinet depth is set by the port panel clearing the 6.77 inch motor, not by the magnet alone. Focal prints no bolt circle, so the threaded insert kit ships in the box.
